Q: I have these tech companies in my TFSA. Can you tell me which companies you like and which you don't and why? Do you think I have too many Tech companies? I show a profit in all but KXS, CGY, NVEI. Thanks 5i.

Q: Good morning,

I have a basket of tech stocks that I am looking to add a few names too. Those already held include CSU, KXS, LSPD, ENGH, CTS, DND, and REAL. What stocks of the ones listed would you add to today for long-term hold? Thanks.

Q: Could you give your thoughts on CGY? It seems to have done well through and after March (ie the COVID market drop) and as a concept, I like its multiple segments that might sustain the company in various markets. But my concern is the very breath in diversity of its segments, and how the company can continue to retain focus for operations as a small cap name and also clarity for investors. Thoughts? Thanks for your valued input.

Q: Hi team,

Calian just reported what looks like another strong quarter. They seem to be firing on all cylinders, ie 'Record quarterly revenue for the seventh consecutive quarter'. Thoughts?
How does this tech company compare/rank against some of 5i Canadian favourites?
Would you slowly initiate a position over the next 6 months?
The one downside I see is that their FY EPS forecast for 2020 vs 2019 does not seem overly convincing (seen on the 5i Companies page). Maybe the brokers have not adjusted things yet?
Their May 12 revised adjusted net profit and EBITDA per share numbers have been reduced but not sure if that is simply due to the increased share count. Is this a concern?

Cheers,
Steve

Q: Hi Peter,
Do you agree that since around October 2019 CGY's share price chart seems to show strong momentum with good share price increases along with increasing volume especially this February? I used to own CGY some years ago for the dividend but found the share price stable...not many drops and few increases and sold the stock. I characterized the stock then as an income stock which I think agrees with your analysis. Do you feel anything has changed at CGY's operations or company management since October 2019 to have caused the stock to act more like a momentum company? You have noted in previous questions that their debt is higher but the dividend has not been increased and the share count is unchanged. Am I to understand they are borrowing more money to invest in their business and would that this growth in business be the cause of the better momentum? Their business seems to be related to satellites so would you consider CGY to be a high tech company?
Thanks for all your help.
Jim
