Q: Ovintiv has clawed its way back from what seemed like the brink of death in March of 2020 but (1) how does the firm's recovery over the past year compare to its peers and (2) what is your view on its future potential? Buy, hold or sell?

Q: Any news on why this Ovintiv popped almost 12% today?
Q: Comparing OVV and SU, is it pretty obvious that SU is a better company? Can you comment on which has a greater upside potential. My guess from your answers of the last week is that SU is the obvious choice (especially w/ the recent dividend hike.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: Will you please recommend some natural gas producers, preferably with strong and growing dividends.
Q: I am considering selling OVV at a considerable loss and replacing it with Whitecap for the 30 day tax loss. At that time I will compare the progress of the 2 stocks to decide whether to stay with WCP or move back to OVV. I’m inclined to think I should stay with WCP as they have a good dividend and I already have some shares. I would not be overweight in WCP. Is there a different oil stock you would suggest instead of WCP?
Thanks for your always great advise.
John
What do you think of my strategy and what are your thoughts on the 2 companies.

Q: The way the three stocks have been rising lately, from their current stock prices, is it likely that the stock price of these three companies will go up by approximately 50% in the next 6 months or so, the reason for the question is I am looking at buying now and selling in 6 months time and make some quick profit. Dividend is not a consideration at all. Any other companies you can suggest for 50% increase in stock price in 6 months?

Q: What are your thoughts on ECA from an investment point of view now that they are moving away from Canada
Q: Since ECA is moving to the US and becoming OVV, does this mean it will become a US company for Canadian tax purposes? i.e US withholding taxes on dividends and ineligible for Cdn dividend tax credit.
Q: 2 questions:
1. What are your thoughts on the news about Encana moving to the US? Do you agree it creates additional opportunities for the company and see it as positive news
2. they say under the deal, shareholders receive 1 share of the NewCo for every 4 shares of Encana. If I own 101 Encana shares, I would get 25 shares of NewCo, but what about the remainder? Is it returned in cash?

Q: I have one account, a very small part of my overall holdings, that is now 100% cash. This account will only hold one stock and I am considering ECA, PEY and TCL.A. How would you rank them?
Q: An article in In today's Wall Street Journal suggested that if Elizabeth Warren is elected president and bans fracking on Federal lands ( she actually wants to ban it totally, but I don't think she has jurisdiction to do that ) then Canadian shale drillers would be the big winners. Which ones might that be: Encana, Seven Generations? others?
