Q: I am currently down about 25% on both Superior Plus and Russel Metals (held in a RSP account).
However, both have had a nice run off the bottom over the past couple of weeks and I am now thinking of raising some cash in anticipation of another significant market decline, at which time I would take advantage of the opportunity to move in to names such as Fortis, Nutrien and Royal Bank.
Do you think this is a reasonable strategy or are SPB and RUS the type of names that could be "safely" held on to for the longer term?
Thanks, Rick

Q: In early March, as the markets dramatically weakened due to looming economic damage from Covid-19, I sold four smaller, lower-quality positions within my portfolio, mainly for tax-loss reasons (the proceeds represent <2% of the portfolio value), with the intention (option) to re-buy after 30 days (as my philosophy is long-term buy-and-hold). The question now, of course, is whether to re-buy any or all of the 4 positions sold (fortunately, 3 of the 4 are trading at prices substantially lower than what I sold them for). I wonder what your advice would be as to whether to re-buy any or all of these at this time:
(a) Russel Metals;
(b) Cenovus (note—I already hold Suncor as a major position, which I could add to instead);
(c) MTY Food Group (I already hold as major positions SBUX and QSR);
(d) Premium Brand Holdings.

Q: I have few bonds in my RRSP portfolio, one of them is RUSSEL METALS (HY) 6%19APR22. The price for this bond is down significantly in the past 3 weeks even though there is only 2 years to maturity. While my other bonds down 3-5% this one is down almost 20% so I don't think it can be explained by investors selling to free up cash... Is a risk that Russell Metals will go bankrupt in two years or will not be able to pay bond value at maturity? Is there a risk that bond issuer defers payout on maturity date or somehow avoids paying maturing bonds?

Q: I currently hold RUS, TFII and SIS for my industrials. How would you rank the above industrials and should I be making changes?

Q: I have read the most recent comments that you have answered for members on Russel Metals, My question to you is; at what price would you start to recommend this stock if someone is looking for a 10-15% return from purchase price? And, Has Russel Metals ever cut its dividend, for some reason, I think they have.?

Thanks Barry

Q: Hi 5i, Please comment on Russel Metals recent quarter. Initially the market seemed to like things but stock fell quite a bit Friday afternoon and again today(Mon.).
Nice dividend, strong results, cheap stock, good management, is it the tariffs, the cyclicality or something else.
Thanks for your great work.

Q: I'm adjusting the industrial portion of my portfolio and am thinking of selling both Finning and Russel Metals and harvesting some profits. They are both still attractive from a dividend perspective but a likely economic slowdown lowers their future capital appreciation potential. What is your opinion on retaining either of these stocks versus selling and buying something with more potential like NFI, SIS or TFII? Thanks.
