Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I own SLF, BNS, BAM, BN, and GSY in the Financial sector. I am overweight in this sector by 3.42% and thinking to sell BAM with a current equity weight of 0.32% and profit of 56.67%. Additionally selling SLF at a current equity weight of 3.65% and profit of 1.65%. I want to keep it BNS, BN, and GSY due to the decline and losses of -13%, 19%, and 41% when waiting for the recovery. What do you think about this plan. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Q: In your model portfolio you have moved TSU.TO to 4.5% position, question is why not 5% full position, do you think there may be another opportunity (shoe to drop) for an entry. Do you see clear path to SP movement what we had during end of 2022. I have read your answers recently on TSU and seems 5I seems to say that recent write off could be rear window occurance and SP should trade more on it's fundamentals which generated good SP momentem like in 2022 end

Q: A year ago BNS was $88.xx a share, it is now $68. CWB was $36.xx a share and is now $26.xx. Banks seem to be failing as far as investments. One gets 4.5 to 6% dividends but loses 20-30% on valuation in a year. Can we hope for a brighter future in 2023, or are there better choices for stocks the financial sector

Q: hi,
I am just off the phone with my accountant to finish off the corporate year end. we got to discussing investments, and Brookfield came up. my accountant echoed what I have heard over the years as a concern re Brookfield's business' and accounting. my accountant would not invest in Brookfield entities at this point, as they cannot fully understand the underlying business', or the accounting "complexities" (my interpretation of their more negative opinion). I still hold a reasonable amount of BAM and BEP.un, but am a bit worried about these issues. can I have your latest thoughts on this? cheers, Chris
