Q: Hi Peter , wonder if you could tell me why the banks are down from their highs in Mar. while the earnings are good, and what would be the catalyst to get them back to that level. Thanks, Nick

Q: Today's Globe has an article about the value of Laurentian Bank and Canadian Western Bank following their share price reduction in the wake of the Home Capital debacle. Would you view either as a long term hold and which would you prefer?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: i have a bit of a high allocation to banks and i was thinking of trimming Bns. I am also doing this because i have some fear of a housing bust and the proximity of the banks to such an event. And also because there may be a good chance that capital gains tax will be increased next year. I will re invest this money and my question has to do with what sector do you think would be the safest if a housing crash should result. For instance i had thought of buying Canadian Tire. But, i imagine a drop in the housing market will have a big affect on their sales as well. Appreciate your thoughts as usual
Q: Which of these two has better growth prospects in the near and long term? I need to raise some cash and have to sell one of them.

Q: Many analysts on BNN are recommending owning US banks vs Canadian, as dividend growth looks better for the US banks.. Would the benefit of owning a US bank be worth sacrificing the dividend tax break Canadians currently get,and the currency conversion to US dollars. Thank you
Q: Would you buy EFN today? Thanks.
Q: Hi, was just thinking of Efn as a buy? I have half a position now. Was looking over the questions and it looks like you seem to think in the long run it is a good buy.

Thanks, doing good since I joined 5i, Brad

Q: Hi, I can't decide which financial stock to choose for a half position in my portfolio . For financials I already own full positions of BNS, SLF . (And HR.UN for real estate if you think that is relevant)

Q: Good morning,
Global payments was highlighted as a promising fintech stock by Citigroup. What do you think of this company? Would you be a buyer? Or would you have an alternative suggestion in the space (mastercard and visa already owned)
Thank you
Karim

Q: Does GS's recent poor share price performance reflect anticipation of an adverse arbitration decision? Put another way, is there a price at which the likely cost of the decision is baked-in and GS becomes attractive for its margins, yield and cash?

Q: If I were to buy a GIC from Home Capital under 100000, what would happen if they went broke? I understand that the GIC is insured, but for how long would the money be tied up while all the paperwork gets done? And I guess I wouldn't get interest during that time?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: I am looking for some education on the impact of a loss of mortgage origination on a bank. Let's say that starting tomorrow, BMO can only find half as many people to sell mortgages to, but, all current mortgage holders renew their mortgage with them every 5 years, and keep paying their mortgages. Does it impact their P/E ratio? I'm guessing that the earnings would drop because there would not be enough new mortgage payers to compensate for those who are are almost done paying off their mortgage?
Q: Hi,
