Q: Everyone, Richard asked a question about advisors, I don’t use one and never will. They only care about your money so they can have more assets under management- which is a status symbol for THEM. I used four advisors for two years fifteen and sixteen years ago and during our six month conversations I realized I knew more than them! So I started doing research and buying / selling on my own. I only buy the best of the best. Best decision I made and I am making more than twice the average rate of return most people are earning by buying and holding only good quality stocks. Staff at 5iresearch helps me every day with honest responses to questions. My thoughts Clayton.

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.
Q: What are your sentiments on TSLA for the next 6 months? Buy / Sell / Hold?
While they do complete on quality and features, they are now also competing on price; obviously challenging for margins. Also Elon's comment about control are concerning, certainly suggesting conflict. I'd be OK sitting this one out if the 'story' will not clarify for some length of time. Energy storage systems to the rescue?
Thanks.

Q: what % allocations by sector is 5I recommending for a balanced portfolio in 2024
-
Suncor Energy Inc. (SU)
-
Imperial Oil Limited (IMO)
-
Cameco Corporation (CCO)
-
Tourmaline Oil Corp. (TOU)
-
Nutrien Ltd. (NTR)
Q: Are there any particularly compelling resource stocks that are worth buying currently. I have zero exposure to commodities and I am fine with that, but I am open to your recommendations, either CAD or US. I am a moderate-to-agressive investor.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Any news for the 6.6 % price increase on Tuesday , volume not big ? Thanks a lot.
Q: Could you please give me your analysis KRBN, down 30 per cent, buy, sell, or hold. Thanks for expertise.
Q: Can you please rate CALF in terms of risk/reward on a scale of 1-10 and explain the reasons for your rating? I've always stayed away from small caps as I find the sector too volatile, but CALF is giving me second thoughts. I believe this sector is set to run, but am hesitant to invest given my perception of risk. Your thoughts on this ETF are most appreciated. Thank you.

Q: There is a lot mentioned about digital currency being adopted by central banks - last heard to-day on Michael Campbell's show, Replacing fiat currency? In which case the central banks and by extension governments or their agencies would be able to control what we spend it on and monitor us in terms of their political agenda - a good example is this climate change fiasco whereby they use it to tax us. What do you think the mechanism would look like to replace fiat with digital? And, how would gold pricing be affected - increase demand and thus the price?
Q: This has enjoyed a nice run. Do you think it’s too late to buy? I was thinking that the data centre business is promising with the demands ai entails. I am worried about buying it at a high though. Thank you.

Would you have recommendations for stocks/ETFs with 5+% dividend with reasonable growth over the next 2 years? Any sector is acceptable.

Q: How much overlap is there between VFV and VGRO. This is for a RESP and would you owned both or just one? If only one which one you prefer? Funds not needed for at least 10 years. I own IWO and VGG already.
Thanks

Q: TDG HEI -HWM I would appreciate guidance on investing in part suppliers to thr major defense contractors, with your preference to invest in this market and target entry prices. If I missed any of interest or you would orefer in the defense sector, please advise.
Q: Curious about Upwork for the coming year, given that they have turned the corner and are now generating real profits. They apparently have heavily incorporated AI into their platform to the benefit of customers and users. Given these things, do you think it’s a worthwhile investment. Thanks for your opinion.
Q: Hi 5I
Thanks for your great insight to all things investing!
I am trying to help a friend who is very new to investing. He was convinced to invest with an advisor/sales person from Primerica. I am leery and haven't read great things about them online. That could be sour grapes or really anything else for that matter.
My question is; after paying a 2% commision to invest in some AGF funds they show a .4% MER to invest in a fund that only holds a collection of other AGF funds. Each of these funds has another MER of it's own does the original MER include this or is it just compounded fee on top of fee?
If you have any other insight on this "advisor" company or, more broadly, ones operating on similar platforms please shed some light?
Thanks again!
Richard

Q: Thoughts on RKLB as an investment in satellite deployment business?
-
Fortis Inc. (FTS)
-
BMO Equal Weight Utilities Index ETF (ZUT)
-
iShares S&P/TSX Capped Consumer Staples Index ETF (XST)
-
iShares S&P/TSX Capped Information Technology Index ETF (XIT)
-
Nutrien Ltd. (NTR)
Q: From a value perspective, where the current price is compared to it's historical price range and it's future potential, in what order would you add to these equities (NTR, FTS, XIT, XST, ZUT) to reach asset allocation goals?
I understand it is not apples to apples, due to some of the equities are stocks vs ETFs; and some are conservative vs aggressive.
When looking at both the technicals and fundamentals, I would suggest that NTR and ZUT are undervalued and could be earlier purchases, compared to FTS, XIT, XST. Purchases will be spread out over several months.
Your thoughts on the order?
Thanks...Steve

Q: We know from recent reports of grid failures during extreme low and high temperatures that North American electrical infrastructure is inadequate to meet our rapidly growing requirements for electrification.
My questions are:
- will governments re-design, regulate and install new infrastructure in partnerships with private sector/s? (what could possibly go wrong?)
- what exactly constitutes the grid (the components)?
- what companies or types of companies will provide the designs and components for the transitions in Canada and the US?
- are there any obvious stock picks that 5i can recommend at this point?
I realize that this topic falls somewhat into speculation and opinion at this point. I am looking for best thoughts from 5i - not necessarily definitive answers. Maybe 5i would consider producing ongoing articles and references on grid revitalization as we move forward.
Thanks!
Heather
