Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: What do you see as the "end game" in the US involving Trump and imposing tariffs? This is creating a massive disruption. Could the US elite be concerned about the rise of communism and are privately backing this significant "push back" in an attempt to regain a the footing they have lost as a super power? Lately we have become aware of the battle for Greenland and the Panama Canal....China vs the US. If this is part of the end game, there will be alot of pain to go arond worldwide.
I know this is not a straight up investment question....but perhaps we need to try to find out what is motivating these actions and ultimately the impact on economies and stock markets around the world.
Thoughts?
As usual, thank you for your insights.

Q: Hi, holding a few of these losers now in my non registered accounts - they were nice winners just a short time ago. What are the best proxies for these as a tax loss strategy? If my holding is CAD and the proxy is US, should I convert CAD funds to buy US or avoid these situations? Also, at what $ or price % loss would you consider doing these tax loss trades? Thanks!

Q: Would you consider taking a 27% hit on whitecap for tax loss and replace it with Bep.un to get the 7% yield I was getting with white cap before the nose dive. Do you consider the dividend to be secure along with better growth? Tks. Larry

Q: Good Morning,

Do you think it is worth adding to Brookfield Renewable at today's price ?? Its price behaviour is certainly unlike FTS or other electrical utility sector stocks. Would it make more sense to replace it with BAM ?? I am looking for income and some growth. I would appreciate your expert opinion. Thank you. DL

Q: It has been suggested that this time of volatility is a good opportunity for upgrading the quality of one’s investments. It has also been suggested that one not panic and do anything precipitously. I currently hold WCP and TVE, not surprisingly at a considerable loss; many commentators point to CNQ as top grade. What is your view of selling the 2 and replacing with CNQ - switch or hang tough? Many thanks.

If they not your top two, please add your recommended company or ETF.

Thanks!

Q: In your Q & A section, Feb. 12, was the last time you commented on their quarterly report. What is your is your outlook for the remainder of the year. On a scale of one to ten, with ten being high, how would you rate it. I also, noticed where you recommended this company in place of AVGO.
Thank you very much for your excellent service.
