Q: Gentlemen,
RESP has BNS,GUD,OTEX,T in equal parts. There's room for 2 more.
I'd appreciate your thoughts on what you would select at this time. Thank you.
Q: Any comments on MedReleaf (TSX symbol LEAF)
$100mm IPO Priced at $9.50 on Jun 7th, 2017.
I guess my question is, If you were fan of Cannabis, would you invest in LEAF!
Q: Hello, I want to start a small portfolio on margin with 2 or 3 stocks with good dividends to outweigh the loan fees and generate leverage. Is this a good strategy ?
Q: They are offering convertible debentures paying 5.25% - attractive since I think by 2024 ALC could be much higher than $13. However, the conversion is at more tan $20 per share. The extra security would mean giving up more than 50% upside. Does this seem an usually high conversion price? Do you think it is an attractive offering?
Q: In order to avoid individual stock risk, my wife (retired) has asked my opinion on investing 30% of her total portfolio in 10% each of Canada, Europe, and the U.S. (The remaining 70% is composed of 5-year laddered GIC's) I have suggested the following... Canada would be broken down into ZWC and CDZ (on a 40/60 split), Europe would be broadly broken down into ZWE and XIN (40/60 split), and the U.S. would be broken down into ZWH and CUD (40/60 split). What do you think of this strategy? Would you recommend different ETF's to balance the covered calls for the three geographic areas? Thanks!
First a comment-it is puzzling why you get so many questions outside of the stocks on your coverage list or portfolios. With the results BE port has achieved it seems to make sense to follow your advice rather than making our own picks. Similarly if you get less questions on uncovered stocks you will have more time for the ones you recommend.
My question is I currently have about 4% in BEP.UN (42.58) which has done great. 2.5% in MDA (63.93) down 25% as I bought just before you removed from BE. 2% in HR.UN (23). And less than 1% in AVO (15.20) bought near peak so down 50%. Also own more than half of BE plus 5% AAPL and GOOGL, 4% DIS and TD.
Don't yet have SYZ,GUD,AIF,CLS,CSU,KXS,NFI,PBH, or TOY. Should I get rid of any of the stocks listed in first section? And which of the BE I don't have yet should I get soon? Have enough cash that I could add 3 and risk tolerance is high.
Q: Relating to internet of things, SQ, PYPL, GPN and TTWO are doing quit well, while SQ, PYPL and GPN are in the fintech payment space, TTWO is a on line video game company. I am thinking of swapping my AAPL holding to one of them for more growth. Which one will you pick amount them?
Q: Saputo earnings were 0.42 cents per share. Can you tell me what the expectations were and what the is the new current P/E ratio? Google Finance doesn't seem to adjust the P/E ratio according the recent earnings. Do you think Metro would be a good switch? Seems like Saputo is starting a downtrend whereas Loblaws and Metro are in uptrends? I'm not looking for confirmation, but rather for flaws in my observations.
Q: Would you mind commenting $75 million covertible debenture issue. I think the market likes the issue. It appears the new debenture will be replacing an expiring debenture at a lower interest rate so I suppose that should be good for the company's bottom line. The news release states the conversion price is $21.15 per share. Pardon my ignorance but how exactly does the conversion work? Does a debenture act in a similar fashion to a bond? If interest rates go up does the price of debenture go down? How would the debenture act in effect of a market crash?
Thank you,
Jim
Q: Greetings, Peter & Co.
I currently hold AGT at a profit. I would like to replace it with another agriculture stock, small cap or mid cap, that has some growth and some dividend. Failing this, I would consider a moderate sized tech company that meets these criteria.
With appreciation,
Ed
Q: I do not know why a loss on A&W psychologically hurts more than the joy derived by seeing most of my other 5i equities that have increased by more than three times the loss. Also I find it hard to sell my losers when I should(there is always hope)and the need to keep my winners when they should be trimmed. Selling my winning and paying bank stocks (too much over indulged in) and putting the funds into XGD (which I should and did) is contrary to all my instincts but is rationally correct. Boy, his is tough!!
Thank you for the appropriate, timely advise and guidance, without which things would surely go awry.

Q: Own 1/4 position in HWO(down 20%)& 1/2 pos.in Ala.r(down 1.4%).Should I continue to hold both & add some.Appreciate u usual great services & advices
Q: Hello 5i,
A guest on BNN recently mentioned Keyera in the context of being a potential take-over candidate. I realize such is likely nothing more than idle speculation, but I am now curious: where would such a bid most likely originate? Utilities such at ENB, FTS, TRP, etc or more the likes of a Suncor? Or, are either equally as probable?
I would like to know what kind of viable candidates you would see out there. I am guessing KEY would go to a Canadian buyer under the present set of circumstances. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Cheers,
Mike
Q: Greetings 5i team. Looks like the American public is more and more in favor of impeachment of President Trump. If indeed, he is impeached, what impact do you think this will have on the market? As a follow up question, should we as 5i members be changing our porfolios in any way to adjust for a possible impeachment?
