Q: Greetings -wondering what your thoughts are on owning this s/w, h/w design company for chips versus owning the semi-conductor companies themselves. Its hard to predict who will have the next best thing, but it seems like all the companies use CDNS to help speed the design process. Your thoughts or would you prefer to pick a few key winners?

Q: Hello,
Can you provide your thoughts on Namaste Technologies. It seems like the company has overcome the major hurtles in the last 1.5 years (less their partnership with Chokolat) and seems to be in the good position to capitalize on the alleged LM boom during COVID. Thank you!

-
Nuvei Corporation Subordinate Voting Shares (NVEI $47.61)
Q: Hi, Nuvei shares debuted Thursday with a bang and closed nicely 30% above the offer price of US$26. Initial Offering was for 26.9 mln shares ( plus 15% overallotment) of which about 90% was treasury offering of new shares and balance was sold by existing shareholders, Novacap group of funds. Caisse and most other major shareholders continue to own their stake in the company. 8.3 mln shares were traded on the first day, in total, (USD and CAD). Shares traded in the range of US$31.58-$35 and CAD$42-$46.
Initial analysis and report posted by 5i (Barkha) on the company was very informative and helpful.
Looks like, Nuvei could be in league with highly successful Canadian Tech companies like SHOP and LSPD, in the payment/ ecommerce sector.
What is your take on this company ? How do you rate company's hold in its addressable market, growth prospects and competition ?
Your commentary and guidance was invaluable and tremendously useful in the early days of LSPD, last year and helped many of us to be able to build a decent ownership, over time.
If you like NVEI, what will be your recommended approach, position size and price range ?
Thank you for your valued insight, as always.

Q: Why is the market not liking these two companies? Both established large cap companies, limited growth but why so unloved if interest rates will remain low for years to come? I have to admit I’m staying away from these two due to terrible price momentum. Both have lost money if held the past 5 years.

Q: I think this question may be more about financial statement understanding, or oil & gas reporting specialization, than investment, so it may be beyond the scope of what you can advise?
Kelt's most recent quarterly report includes a $260 million impairment charge on their assets ("CGU") -- that magnitude is huge and is the lions share of their (huge) quarterly costs and loss.
Are you able to provide any explanation or further information about this transaction?
Unrelated, I see today's large insider purchase -- looks like a substantial vote of confidence?
(I have a tiny piece of KEL in my TFSA)
