Q: Hello, could I get your thoughts on SPCE - Virgin Galactic?
Q: just some back of the napkin calculations... assuming operating income hits the midpoint of SHOP's guidance ($32 million) and the number of shares outstanding is 113.14 million (according to scotia), wouldn't that give us an eps of 28 cents a share?
Yesterday, Thompson Reuters had a 2019 consensus of 68 cents a share and 96 cents for 2020.
Does the above jive with the info you have at your disposal / calculations?
Thanks.
John

Q: Hi there,
This one is getting clobbered this morning. At first glance i did not think the results or forecast were that bad but clearly the market thinks differently.
Your thoughts.

Q: Context: CHE.UN is 0.3% of our portfolio, it's down 50%. The price is not improving and the dividend has been the same since Feb 2007.
What do you think of the strategy of holding CHE.UN through a dividend cut... in the hopes that the share price will increase after the cut. A pattern that *seems* to follow most dividend cuts.
Thanks.

Q: If now is a good time to begin putting 12% cash to work increasing our USA div. income to balance our RRIF withdrawals for a mid 70s couple what stocks or etfs would you recommend. We currently own VZ@ 1%, QCO M@1% VGG 1% and VUN 3% to top up.
According to your portfolio analysis we need more US communication, US industrial, and US basic materials. Is it better to have div. income from Canada than US in our RRIF plans?
Would also like to switch our 3.5% position of IYT to div. position.
Take as many question as needed. Thanks

Q: ALA has been weak lately. The stock is still up about 30% since Jan 1st but lower over one year. Do you think the weakness is related to selling the remaining portion of their Canadian spin-off or just normal trading? Looking at the one year chart it appears some sellers could be taking profits and others could be crystallizing capital losses. I don't think volume has significantly picked-up during the decline - the stock just tends to drift lower.
Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.
Regards,
Jim

Q: I understand there are some ETFs or possibly mutual funds that invest in such a way that dividends are captured as capital gains, to reduce income tax. But I also understand the government is considering legislative changes to prevent this type of structure. Do you have any insights/recommendations on these products?
Q: Could you please explain "after hours trading".
