Q: Hi 5i Team,
I do not have any international exposure and I am wondering if you would recommend a dividend ETF with some upside potential. What account would it be best held in? Do you think this is a good time to enter? Thanks so much.

Q: BMO has new issues with principal protection. If I understand, many will limit your upside in order to guarantee the downside. Some seem to not limit the upside. My grandchild will require funds in 7 years. Can you give me your opinion as to Bank of Montreal Low Volatility Canadian Equity ETF Principal Protected Deposit Notes, Series 5
JHN2446 suitability. Is there a better “protected” alternative or is it all a case of you don’t get something for nothing. I’m looking at a safe place for $10,000 (Currently 20%).

Q: If someone stopped you on the street and randomly offered you $1720 US cash or one ounce of gold, which form of wealth would you take? Assume both the cash and gold are real, of equal value, there's nothing suspicious, and that the decision doesn't depend on any special circumstances or conditions or taxes.

Q: I've been watching this one for a while, ever since you compared it favourably within the context of alternative energy / solar stocks. Wednesday's "dip" turns out to have been driven by a class action lawsuit concerning alleged revenue manipulations.

The press release from the legal firm filing the class action has this to say:

"On June 17, 2020, Prescience Point Capital Management issued a report alleging, among other things, that 'at least 39%, or $205.3 million, of [Enphase's] reported U.S. revenue is fabricated.' The report also claimed, citing former employees, that 'a large portion of [the Company's] astronomical growth over the past two years is attributable to accounting gimmicks that artificially inflate revenue and profits.'"

What are your thoughts on Enphase in light of this news?

Also, I'm curious given your experience, are you able to share any insights on how class action lawsuits affect companies and their share performance -- at least, until the allegations are actually proven or rejected in court?

Q: I am approaching my first year with 5i Research and it has been the best investment decision I've made. Thank you for your great service.

These days, it seems like an attractive strategy to buy a stock that has potential for significant upside recovery and has a great dividend that can accrue while waiting for that recovery. The risks would be that the dividend is stopped/reduced or the recovery doesn't happen. But some companies seem to be "good enough" that we can be *relatively* confident that it works out very well. Am I missing anything? Is EIF a great candidate for such a strategy? What are some better alternatives? Thank you.

What are the chances of 5i focusing on us stocks as well and not just Canadian names. If you guys own names in the states , wouldn’t it be beneficial for subscribers to own some of the same names south of the border, so we all have skin in the game. A portfolio of us stocks would be be a great addition .

Westshore Terminals announced Great Pacific Financial Services Ltd. (Jimmy Pattison ) has purchased 1,035,656 shares on the open market on June 19. The news release stated GPFSL increased its shareholding of WTE from approximately 3 % to 4 %.
According to the Management Information Circular dated May 8, 2020, Jimmy Pattison has control over approximately 34.99 % of WTE, which after reviewing SEDI is comprised of several holding companies (Great Pacific Capital Corp.; Great Pacific Capital Investments Inc.; and Great Pacific Financial Services Ltd.). This equates to holdings of 16.0 %, 16.0 % and 3.0 % for the three holding companies. GPFLS has now increased its total holdings from 3.0 % to 4.61 % with the overall holdings of Jimmy Pattison controlled companies to 36.58 % of WTE.
Questions are:
1 - Is there a limit to how many shares of WTE Jimmy Pattison can purchase using different corporate entities before he has to offer a buyout to minority shareholders? Or can he continue with purchasing shares in this manner until he achieves control (i.e. greater than 50.0 %)?
2 - Do you think Jimmy Pattison will offer a buyout of WTE similar to Canfor last year?

Where can one find out about new IPO's? I seem to always here about them after a good 2-3 day pop. Marketwatch.com seems like one option. In addition to a simple list, how can an individual investor best familiarize themselves with the upcoming IPO's? How would your team do it and do we have access to the same materials? Zoominfo and Royalty Pharma are two examples of companies I wish I had known about and evaluated in advance.

Thanks for the Q & A on it.......One learning, ask for the journalizing to be done inter-day as that then allows for DLR.U:CA to be sold shortly after the transaction is done.... I used Scotia iTrade and the result was a 1.6% saving compared to doing it at a bank like RBC........Again thanks for the "tip"....Tom
