Q: I recently sold ENB.PR.V which trades in the TSX . It is a USD pref that pays its dividend in USD. My question: do you have a list of USD denominated prefs that trade on the TSX? ( not including ENB issues)
As an aside to any body else with these sort of holdings in a taxable account: Be mindful of the T-5s these things generate. It is easy to miss the USD part, and enter( or download as of recent) the data into your software as CAD$. I did that, and CRA was not happy.
Thanks as always for your interesting perspective.

Q: Have held GUD for over 3 years and as a reward I am down aprox, 5% with no divy. to temper my impatience. Am thinking of replacing with BCI or OTEX in my growth portfolio. Would you endorse this move?.....which would have more upside? At what point does 5i run out of patience and throw GUD to the curb?
Q: Why if this co. has received two proposals, does it not even show up on latest news on ruf. un website. Are they just trying not to pay any attention to it, or waiting for a firm offer.
Thanks
Q: I own 245 shares of REF.UN that I have held in a brokerage account for some time. They recommend that I sell for $50.00 now, and they would only charge 1/2 the commission. I understand that if the deal goes through I can take the option to sell at $53.75 with no charges. In your expert opinion, what are the chances of the deal falling through? If this happens the shares would likely fall back to the $42.00 range.
I do not want the CHP.UN shares, but I would like to sell all of the REF.UN shares.
I am wondering if the broker just wants her commission. PLease give me your expert opinion. Sell now or wait?
Q: Hi,
I had PLI in my TFSA as of yesterday. I sold it at an 80% loss. Is there any one good growth company that I can replace it with that would regain my losses? It's the only stock in my TFSA and it's a small position.
Thanks
Q: I hold both IPL (1.7%) and ENG (2.2%) in my portfolio. ENB has been hit harder over the last 12 months. Do you believe it will have a better recovery than IPL and if so, would it make sense to sell IPL and add to my ENB position. They would be no tax consequences.
