Q: Thank you for promptly answering my question on Silver Corp Metals. I have a follow up question. When a company does a "private placement" for convertible debt my understanding is that a bank/brokerage house will offer this placement to clients who have accounts with them. I guess that means that DYI investors who do their investing with a discount broker, in my case RBC, do not have access to these types of placements. Is that correct? Will that placement eventually end up on an exchange and be open to trading on that exchange? If the answer is yes then how long does it generally take for a private placement to end about on an exchange so it can trade? If the answer is no, then how does the investor who bought the private placement eventually liquidate their holding? I am just trying to get an understanding of how this works. Thanks for your help.

Q: At the time of the transaction announcement, I had assumed the original ACB from Karora would follow, and the transaction would not be a taxable event. My concern was how would the $0.608/share be treated. I enquired, and received this passed along from their tax dept, "This was a return of capital spin-off followed by a mixed consideration third-party acquisition.It was effectively a fair market value disposition because the consideration was a mix of cash and shares.  To be tax deferred in Canada it has to be shares only." 
In other words, the entire transaction would be taxable this year. (The ACB on the WGX shares reflects that.)

Is this your understanding?  If so, any idea why they would structure the deal this way?  Doing so would seem decidedly non shareholder friendly.

This is a question about the meaning of volumes. For example if a stock goes up or down on high volume what can we deduce from that. And the contrary...if a stock goes up or down on low volume what can we deduce from that. I know one day is just one day but I am just trying to get a read on momentum...if you know what I mean! Q: The current price of GSY is tempting. Your market data shows a median target of $227 which is 33% over current. Earnings are expected to grow 20% next year ($20.28-16.91) which gives a forward P/E of 10 and that compares nicely to the 5 year low P/E of 7. Historically the stock has performed well, the 5 year CAGR for the stock price is 30% which doesn't include the dividend. While the numbers look tempting, the market is giving a big yawn and I wonder what I am missing that others aren't. Perhaps you could try to explain the yawn. Feel free to correct any of the numbers if Bloomberg is reporting something different.

Q: This fund is part of an employer-sponsored account. It has been steadily decreasing since early October given (I assume) the bond market’s attempts to price in new uncertainties over the past few weeks. I thought this bond component would reduce volatility but perhaps not (?). I have 5-7 years to go until the money is needed. If it’s going to lose value or underperform I would prefer to sell it now and put my faith elsewhere. It is 10% of my total portfolio. My question: What would YOU do in this situation?

There are many proofs that indicates Brookfield knew about Odebrecht corruption in Peru and went ahead an bought at reduced price 57% of "Rutas de LIma" (HighwayToll systems) , Can this harm Brookfield credibility, and integrity and the stock. Sell/Hold?
