Q: I am interested in the performance of these 2 stocks before and during the current conronavirus environment.
I would have thought that AYX would have fared better, since it has about 3 time the market capitalisation. I acn't articulate the other factors which have given me a gut feeling that AYX was inherently stronger. But KXS seems to have held up better.
Grateful for your insights on the comparative recent performance of these two.

Q: Hello,
I am currently waiting out this deep downturn in the market. At some point the market will start recovering. I have followed your recommendations in the Portfolio Tracking and Analysis tool.

If you had $500,000 sitting in cash which you want to deploy once the market turns around, which sectors would you look towards investing in for the eventual upward trend? Would you be able to provide your favourite stocks /ETFS which you would use to cover the sectors you think will be first to recover?

Q: With the recent announcement of the merger of Argonaut Gold and Alio Gold, do you think this will be of benefit to Argonaut shareholders. Q: Have 2.3% in ARE ,2.4 In TFII. Thing of selling ARE at a loss and adding to TFII purchased @ $28.42 . ARE has. Slightly higher dividend . I consider TFII a better growth stock than ARE.
TFII has had a sharp drop from $48 . I consider throwing out the baby with the bath water. Strong need for transport and lower gas prices adds to an incentive to buy.

Q: Hello, I would like to get your best guess as to how the cdn bond market would react under 3 different scenarios.

1. Rates stay static for the next couple of years as we slowly make our way out of this and there no other real shocks to the system.

2. Rates rise as things improve much quicker than expected and the economy booms along with higher inflation than expected.

3. The situation slowly get worse and prolonged and rates fall to below zero.

I am confused at the best of times but these days are setting things to a whole new level.

Currently own xbb and vcit as fixed income. Better options?

Q: Under what circumstance would you consider swapping one BIPC share for one BIP.UN, assuming the ongoing dividend and unit distribution payout are identical.

Would it be just the tax consequence on the future sale of the share or unit, and perhaps the tax treatment of the dividend and unit distribution payout? Thanks.

Q: Given the high implied VOL in options, what are your favourite names in CAD and USD for covered call strategies?

Looking for stocks that you already like that have reasonably liquid options (I know harder in CAD) and you think have excellent bounce back potential and wouldn't mind owning for 2-3 years.

Q: I have owned this particular preferred share for 5 years now and that has just recently been renewed and with the recent drop in the market and overall poor performance and using your crystal ball would you continue to hold or just sell and move on. Q: Greetings Team 5i,

I was thinking of buying for RRSP but concerned about losing out to withholding tax.
XDG is a Canadian wrapper with around 53% of USA holdings plus rest of the world.

Would you have an idea of the withholding tax status? Held in an RRSP, would the USA holding's dividends NOT incur withholding but the remainder would?

In this case, I am giving the issue of withholding tax too much thought and should just buy it for its merits?
