Q: Please give me your updated view of zoetis. Do you like the sector? Do you consider this a buy, and if so, would this be a compelling buy?

Q: Good Morning 5I Team, Can you please tell me when is this Co going to declare their earnings, if yes, I would like to have your opinion and comments. Many thanks, Catherine
Q: Hi,
Can you suggest 1 or 2 good DOW etfs, both hedged and unhedged. I am leaning toward unhedged at the moment as our dollar is quite strong.
Thank You, John

Q: I would like to buy a US stock for my son’s RRSP account. I am considering BAC Bank of America. With current value of CAD/US is it a good time to buy into US market using CDn dollars or should I just stay in the Canadian stocks. Any other US stock suggestions ?
Thanks Kathy
Thanks Kathy

Netflix Inc. (NFLX $104.40)

NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA $177.82)
-
Align Technology Inc. (ALGN $147.50)
-
Cognex Corporation (CGNX $37.76)
Q: Thanks for your recent reply -- but I think my question was misunderstood.
While I thank you for the recommendations on SQ, CGNX and ALGN, they are all in the Technology sector, which is something I would like to move away from at this time.
Even if I retain a 5% position in Netflix, Nvda and Shopify, that would bring me to a 15% in my portfolio, which I think 5I suggests should be a good enough weighting at this time.
Could you please provide a few names, with good growth, outside of tech? Your favourites?
Please deduct as many points as is required -- as I've got lots in store. : ) Sorry for being such a pest, but I suppose my first question was misunderstood?
Thank you!

Q: I am wanting to sell partial positions in each of these. They have become dangerously overweight in my portfolio and am looking to take profits in order to reinvest in other companies/sectors -- either in Canada or US. ADRs would also be acceptable. While I see huge growth in the technology sector, I think I would like to move away from it, since my weighting in this sector is also "dangerously overweight" ... at almost 25%.
(It's hard to move away from something that's giving you such good returns!)
1. Which 3 stocks might you suggest for equal/similar torque?
2. What is a good weighting for the above stocks? All of them have reached the 7 percent range, and even to me it sounds a bit risky.
Thanks for your advice.

Q: I own some KKR, which has done well, and have been considering either purchasing more of this or investing in another alternative asset manager - possibly Blackstone Group, or Carlyle Group (CG on the Nasdaq, although I was unable to bring this up on your system). All continue to have very good runs. Does a purchase in this group make sense to you at this point? If so, is there one member of the group, or a related company, that you would recommend?
Thanks - Don

Q: would buy AT&T at this time?
Q: Zymeworks had quite a lift today. Can you provide any colour? Thank you.
Q: Hi team,
I go to the U.S. mainly for tech stocks. I have FB, GOOG and SQ for some time now, happy with all. In Canada, I have KXS (thank you very much), BYL and OTEX (my perennial laggard that I still like).
There are many U.S. tech stocks on my watch list but I will ask about TTD, The Trade Desk. As I understand its model, it is into digital advertising by selling programming on a real-time electronic auction basis. TTD went public last year, had a strong run, faded back and seems to be acting better these days. I have seen positive comments on it on several U.S. business sites in the past month or so. One U.S. analyst (for what that’s worth) had it among his top ideas for 2018.
Your thoughts on this one?
Thanks again,
dave

Q: I've been looking for an ETF that covers the Blockchain space. BLOK.N from Amplify looks interesting as a managed ETF. This should be much safer that trying to play on the Cryptocurrency side. I'm in the technology space (software) and sort of the exponential growth of unstructured data we now create, I have not seen such a transformational new technology such as Blockchain.

Q: What are your 3 best picks for US oil companies with a 2 year hold?
Q: I have visited the Pimco website but am still unable to get a clear understanding of the holdings of the Pimco High Income Fund ( PHK:US). In your opinion, in general, would this fund be suitable for a retired senior? The income is high but does it come at a price to risk?
Thank you for considering my question.

Q: Hello 5i. Just wondered if you had seen the article on this topic in the Globe & Mail over the weekend. What it suggests is that dividends from US-listed ETFs held in an RRSP account are not subject to US taxes. However, the article states that this is not the case for dividends paid by Canadian-listed ETFs that invest in US stocks. In this case, dividends ARE subject to US withholding taxes, even if the ETF is held in an RRSP account. The article goes on to say that these taxes cannot be recovered. (Same situation would apply to mutual funds.)
Assuming the article got this, I'm not sure that all ETF investors are aware of this nuance.
