Q: Hello Peter,

I am a long time 5i Member and happily own the Balanced portfolio and 5 names from the growth portfolio across my TFSA, RRSP, LIRA and Non-Registered accounts.

Recently I have taken on a small business loan and excess cash to invest. Given that the business loan is tax deductible, I am looking to invest the excess cash in my Non-Registered account.

Can you recommend 5 steady blue-chip Canadian dividend payers to help mitigate the interest costs on the loan? I already had T, ENB, SLF and BNS in mind.

Given that I would only be leveraged 10% in equity, and the latest sector rotation away from non-cyclical stocks (Telco's, pipelines) should I consider more growthier names for my equity picks? That would mean adding to my already owned positions in the 5i Balanced portfolio.

Of course, the last option is to pay the business loan and call it a day. I will however be in equites for the next 30 years and know that in the long-run it is a equity markets is a great wealth creator.

Lastly, great foresight and homework done (not luck) on the AVO selection!

Thanks for your continued support and wisdom!

Q: Is there a record date for the Split? My XAU share tanked 30% some weeks ago....I guess because of the Split, but this the answer OI got from their IR:

Thanks for your email. I understand your concern but I currently don't have any news to share with you regarding the Mene listing. Happy to answer any additional questions you may have after our earnings release on Friday.

Q: Hi team,
Why is the price of gold not reacting strongly if inflation seems to be brewing? In particular with B2gold set to produce close to a million ounces in 2018 would not it's stock price reacting more positively to the upside? What is your outlook for both ,gold and B2gold over the next 12 to 18 months? Is now the time to purchase BTO?
Many thanks,
Jean

Q: HI Team,
I am looking to put some speculative money into the water space. I have been watching HEO.V and I have recently found WATR.V that I am keeping an eye on. Would you recommend focusing on HEO for any particular reason? I am considering taking a 2% position in HEO and 1% WATR. Any other micro cap names in this space that you would consider or replace WATR with? Thanks

Q: My 20year old son has at least 2years of school left and has enough summer income and RESP to cover those years. He has been slowly building a portfolio that mirrors your balanced portfolio. With the take over of AVO his tech weightings are now 33% ( youth seems more comfortable with tech!). I am encouraging him to rebalance. Which do you think has the best 2+ year outlook. ATD.B, SLF, WSP or SJ on the recent pullback. Thank you for all your suggestions, this is a fun kind of “problem” to have!

Q: hi 5i, as a retired couple with your income portfolio, 10% cash and our largest 5 positions above pulling back between 4% and 8% in the last 2 weeks, is now or soon a good time to deploy 5% cash? if so should we add to your income portfolio or add to the above stocks and in what order, best to last or wait for a bottom to form. Thanks so much for your reply. Peter

Q: Hello Peter and team,
I know that you don't generally deal with U.S. stocks, but I would greatly appreciate it if you would identify your top 2 recommendations for each of the following sectors: Industrials, Materials and Technology. Thank you for your excellent service.
