Q: Another question on my semi annual balancing exercise. With the understanding that the rest of my portfolio consists of conservative growth, dividend paying large caps and that I am looking at a 3 to 5 year time frame. Please indicate the those companies you would carry at a 5 % ish level, those that you would carry at a 2% to 3% level and those that you might not carry at all. Much appreciated ram

Q: Everyone, if you were just starting out on a long journey of investing your savings in the market, what would be the first three things you would do? Clayton

Q: Hello
I have been a moneysaver customer for many years. I noticed that the model portfolio has an inception date of 2013. Can you maybe work on another more current basket of stocks bonds given that the investing environment has changed. For example the Canadian preferred index used to be quite popular, however given that rate resets are diminishing and that we are in a low interest rate environment, there may be better alternatives

Q: I have about 10% cash that I am considering putting in U.S. stocks. Even with our $.69 dollar, I don't see any catalysts to improve that over the next few years. I have a good diverse portfolio in both $Cdn and $US, but I am definitely lighter in US exposure.
With the uncertainty of tariffs, Canada with no real leadership for the foreseeable months ahead, the US "Drill baby drill", and Canada not seeming able to attract large international investment, is there anything left to drive growth in Canada?
I am retired, so I want something that should be a little less volatile. I'm thinking of adding to MSFT and JPM, to bring them to a full 5% position. Is this a good idea, and if so, can you also recommend 2 other stocks for me to look at. What are your thoughts on Healthcare, stocks or ETFs, with the new administration? Everything US is inside my RRSP. Thank you

Q: It is doing well with Project Eagle turning around its US operations. It has gone from 0 analyst coverage to 3 covering it since November, and PT of $209. After hitting a high of $195 it has drifted to $175 on no news. I am thinking this is due to tariff threats, would you agree? With a negative beta I like it as a hedge, but I am wondering if there is now market specific risk and should sell.

Q: The last 3 Q's it has shown good growth through its acquisitions in the RTD market. The price has not responded to what I see as the potential growth turn around and you have provided some support for this thesis in previous questions. It reports February 12 and I am wondering if the Q is good would you continue to wait for a turnaround in the price or would you move on? How long would you wait? It is at a long term low price, feel it can't go any lower, but while waiting I have missed on stocks like CLS.

Q: Hello 5i
I took up a small partial position in Atex with the news AEM bought a stake….at the AEM deal price
I did not buy huge due to dilution reminder in AEM deal……they have anti dilution rights.

Seeing the price jump obviously make me wish I had bought more.

What to do now?
I was going to buy more over time but did not expect the price jump.

Does one just add at this point or should a pull back be expected after recent move. Tough call but what’s your experience with wippy mining stocks say to you.

The deposit is real and heavy weights are in. That does not always mean timing is good for buy at $1.90/share.

Thoughts on adding here or a plan with this type of position?

Thanks

Dave

Q: I am considerably overweight in energy. Was looking to ride it out for seasonal strength until April before cutting back, but the whole tariff question has got me nervous so will trim soon. I have close to an equal weight in both these stocks. CNQ is pretty solid but I think VRN has more upside over the short term. Between CNQ and VRN, which would you pare down the most? Cheers.

Q: The new management team at I 80 gold led by Richard Young has made a few small moves to recapitalize the company. The gold deliveries that were due have been moved forward and they did a small capital raise at 80 cents per share. What is your opinion of the actions that Young and his team have made to date? Are they just buying time or are they slowly getting I 80 on firmer financial footing?

Q: In a portfolio where capital preservation and income are the goals there are 13 equities including 2 banks and one insurer. H is in a small loss position; it currently has yield of around 2.84%. POW has a yield around 5.2%. What would your thought be about switching from H to POW? Many thanks for your excellent service.

Q: Sorry to keep asking questions about GXE but there are share holders who have not received their proxy vote letter/email and the vote has to be in by Jan. 28, 2025. Is it unheard of for a company to extend (delay) a proxy vote, especially since this is a transformational vote for GXE? If it is not a crazy/unprecedented request to have a proxy vote delayed how would share holders let management know that they think share holders need more time to vote? I suppose calling GXE investor relations is a start but are there other measures that can be taken? I have been able to vote without a hitch but a friend of mine who is a GXE shareholder has not received anything via mail or email and it is already the 26 of January!!! If the vote is in favor, then GXE will be ripped apart with part of the company being sold to CVE and the remaining rump of assets being renamed Lotus Creek. Would you be in favor of holding shares in Lotus Creek since it will have only 1700 BOE of production when it starts trading.

Q: Hi Team,
On Jan. 15th Jordan Zinberg from Bedord Park Capital had Gsy as a top pick. He mentioned that GSY has a credit card. Is this true? I knew that the credit card was being looked into and possibly in development but I had not heard that it was active. I tried looking on the goeasy website by the investor presentation hasn't been updated for almost a year now. If you could share any info you have on this that would be great. I would think a credit card could be a big growth engine going forward for GSY.

Thanks,
Shane.
