Q: What are your thoughts on Dream Hard Asset Alternative Trust - would it be a good choice for a long term hold? Yield is approx. 6% - read a report that states they provide retail investors access to investments normally available to private equity funds.
Q: What is the obligation of a publicly traded company in regards to revealing new contracts? Can they wait to the next quarterly report before revealing it? If they wait for the next quarterly report, does it mean the insiders are under a blackout period?
A million dollar contract for a big bank has no significance on its share price, but for a small company like Reliq, it could move the share price. Could you comment?

Q: I recently asked a question about a substitute for SLF for tax selling purposes. I was wondering what you might think about a US substitute for slf? I know there is no dividend tax benefit. But, I will be rebuying whatever I buy in a RIF, therefore no tax consequences.
thanks for the great service as always

Q: Most equity investments I make are made with a long term view (buy and hold). My recent readings of investment material have concluded in many cases that one of the best indicators of long term successful and rewarding investing is to invest in excellent company management. I would consider some examples of excellent management would be JNJ and closer to home BAM. Both of which I currently own.
Given the great many risks (domestically and internationally) currently threatening even a conservative approach to investing. I am looking to identify up to 10 large companies that have clearly demonstrated excellent consistent management capability. Your consideration in helping me with this by identifying some qualifying companies would be most appreciated. My thought is that at least 5 out of 10 would be Canadian and would be large companies.
Thank you

Q: I had typed out a question a couple of days ago and then received an error message upon submission so I am sending it again- apologies if you receive it twice.
I have recently seen a news release from this company that indicates that the NAV is $32.92. While I recognize that as a closed end fund shares can trade at a premium or discount to the underlying value, the discount here at a share price of $23.00 imparts a "mis-pricing" of almost $210 million dollars given the approximately 21 million outstanding shares. The fund managers must be pulling their hair out. According to their website the fund has been around awhile and has a decent track record. Given your industry experience I was wondering if you could comment on this investment vehicle.
Thanks!

Q: An opinion please on this one after it's significant rise.
Q: I understand you are not fans of Canoe, but in the Globe & Mail Gordon Pape recently put forward a persuasive case for income investors since the unit value has been trading
between $11 and $13 for the last several years. With the current price at the low end of the range, the yield is very attractive and the monthly payment of 10 cents/unit has remained stable since 2009. Any second thoughts?
