Q: With the recent drop in prices, are any of the above attractive for dividends and price appreciation?

Q: Greetings 5i,

What to do about FFN. I love the div and I’m +77% since the Covid bounce back. I guess my biggest concern is I don’t understand how the div is so large. I wonder if the div it pays gradually erodes the NAV and so inevitably will result in a lower and lower share price and zero dividend. Or will the share price move up with the assets it owns? Can 5i shed some light on this?

Thanks!

Q: I know that 5i has not generally recommended these split corp funds but I would like your take in this scenario. We know they bottom when asset value drops below an acceptable number and this has occurred. I recall years ago the same thing happened and yields disappeared and values plummeted. When the market bounced back however each roughly doubled and paid lucrative dividends until of course the next major downturn. My question given that we all expect new highs some day, is whether these would not be nice tuck ins today that will eventually appreciate if not double and begin paying great dividends?

Q: Hi Team:
I enjoy reviewing the portfolio analysis. Of course there are always concerns with data interpretation. I am slightly over weighted in DS (5.5%) and FFN ( only 1.8%), 2 companies that I now understand pay some of their dividends with 'Return of Capital'. Returns to date are; DS in RIF (-16%) + TFSA's (-13%, -19%) + RESP (-12%). FFN is in TFSA's (-29%, -30%) + RESP (-30%). Overall now big losers but still paying dividends (DS yield @ 10.15%; FFN yield @ 18.99%) except at the rock bottom time frame of December 2018. So, I want to sell. When do you suggest I take the hit? Do I sell all at the same time? Do I keep some portions? Of course some magical suggestions to make up the loss, especially in the RESP. Overall I am still at a positives in all accounts, so I have not made all bad choices but these are dragging me down and I am tired of seeing the red return. Thanks Ken ..... :-)

Q: A couple of others do not display above, MKZ.un, BSO, LCS & OSP. Is there a reasonable amount of safety in any of these Very High Di Payers? If a stock pays a Dividend > 8%....who cares if there is NO appreciation, as long as risk is limited.

Thanks as always!
