Q: I am looking at VTI or QQQ for a long term hold in my RRSP. I have read that value has outperformed growth over the long term, so VTI would be better as it’s a large-cap blend instead of growth ETF (QQQ). Do you expect growth to outperform value or vice versa over the next 25 years?

Q: Relate to my earlier question on BCE, to fund a single lot buy of GOOG after selling BCE, to fund the gap I need to trim or sell one or some of my existing USD holdings: BN, BAM, BEP, BIPC, BIP, SHOP, VGT, PLTR, ICLN, PRMB. I like them all. What order would YOU consider in selling/trimming? Most have some tax implications due to lengthy holding periods.

Q: Could you please comment on Fairfax Financial Quarterly/FY earnings released today.

We own Intact Financial, but are looking to add another P&C Insurance Co. ( which also is in asset management business - we already have Brookfield Corp. }

Fairfax seems to be executing very well and stock performance supports this thesis.
Company is also buying back its stock, aggressively.

How do you assess and rate this Co. , on valuation, debt, risk and consistency of Growth over long period of time ?

Would you be comfortable to start a new position or add at current levels ?

Thank You

Q: Trane has fallen a bit from the peak what are your thoughts on growth outlook moving forward? I’m up about 100% should I be moving on.

What is the outlook for LSPD? I’m taking a loss on this one and have held on for a few years, is there a chance this will gain any growth or should I cut my losses

Thanks!!

Q: Hi there

I own CVS as part of a diversified portfolio. I’ve held it through its latest funk of a year or more. Suddenly as the result of a somewhat promising earnings report yesterday it’s on a nice uptick.

It’s quite cheap with a nice dividend but some say that’s for a reason even though they seem to have assembled all the pieces for complete healthcare service offering (pharmacy, insurance, medical services tied to us heaithcare program).

Can you give me your thoughts going forward? Buy/Add? Hold? Sell?

Thank you !

Q: Western forest Products just made a deal to sell 14.500 hectares of forest land to Eastwood Forests. Considering that wef's debt is around $83 million (could you confirm that please) I would call the transaction substantial from WEF's perspective. Do you agree? WEF says they will use the funds to reduce debt and invest in equipment that will allow them to make higher value wood products, such as another kiln. I never sold my small position in WEF but this might be the catalyst to move it up a smidge. Do you agree or do you think this transaction is going to hurt wef in the future since they will have to buy their logs instead of harvesting them from their own land?
