Q: Hi Gang,

What are the best strategies or tactics to follow ahead of earning announcements to safeguard against potential precipitous price drops given that stop orders will not necessarily work? As example the significant drops in AVO and CXR after the recent earnings announcements.

Q: Hi guys, does Fairfax 'crash' hedges get reflected in price (either due to fundamentals or sentiment) in your view? I know its only a portion of their vast holdings, but I always get nervous when FFH is up like today's 3% move. Do you also view the stock as a bet against the market short-term due to their hedge book?

Q: Peter and team:
I am down a lot on these two names. How do you see their recovery in the near term vs. oil stocks, assuming we see $60 oil in 2017?
I guess I am asking for your thoughts on selling these and getting in to something like RRX, SGE or WCP?

Q: How do you decide whether to use a DRIP or not for companies in your portfolio? Do you base it on whether you need dividend income or not or is it more company specific? We can use SIS as an example since I own some shares and wondering if I should drip the 2% dividends or take the cash.

Q: What are your thoughts on Brinker International Inc (EAT).
I purchased this recently and it has a good run up in the short time I have owned it. Should I continue to hold. My concern is that revenue growth seems to be flat but earnings growth good. Usually this is unsustainable over the longer term.

Q: What is the best way to invest in GICS? $200,000 proceeds to be withdrawn over four years at $50,000 annually. So $50,000 in one, two, and three year terms. It looks like Oaken Financial offers the best rates in Alberta. Or is there a better alternative that provides the safety of a GIC?

Q: My site did not confirm that this was sent,so here again.Original take out offer was $4.50.Now increase in SIRI share proration,the value is $4.83.Do not understand(may include some share of SIRI),so please explain.Meeting to vote on Aug 30,10am ET & appears offer will succeed as the 2 major shareholders endorse & no other offer to date despite a number of dissidents as per BNN.I just want cash even though my purchase price was higher @ $7 plus.Please advise me what to do & provide a stock as replacement.Always appreciate your usual great advices & services

Q: I noticed that you failed to mention PPY twice when asked for gas stock recommendations. I doubt that it is because you no longer like it. PPY has outperformed while PEY has lagged. Do you think a switch is in order of all or part of my PPY holdings?
