Brookfield Corporation Class A Limited Voting Shares (BN)
-
Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. Class A Limited Voting Shares (BAM)
Q: 1. What are your thoughts on Carlyle Secured Lending - CGBD ?
- I found this company by accident and was intrigued...
- I have a small position in an RRSP account
- Should I increase position or move on
2. Alimentation Couche Tarde - ATD
- I have a good position and have a gain of 40%+
- Going into this year of uncertainty, would you suggest Trim, Hold or Buy ?
3. Brookfield
- I am currently holding Brookfield via BN and BAM(spinoff)
- Should I increase my position in One or Both ?
- OR Sell One to buy more of the other ?
Wishing good health, happiness and prosperity to all for 2023!
Thanks,
M

Q: What is your opinion of the management team at AQN? Do they have a strong enough team to orchestrate a turnaround of their fortunes? Is this a hold or sell?

Fiera Capital Corporation Class A Subordinate Voting Shares (FSZ)
Q: These stocks make up the Financial portion of my portfolio. I would like to concentrate my holdings (just because you have suggested it in the past). V and FSZ are each approximately 1.5% of my portfolio and the others are each around 2.5%.
I am considering selling FSZ and V in order to buy more of the remaining stocks. Would you endorse this move or given the different types of companies represented should I just stay the course? Capital gains would be owing on V and I tend to hold for the long term.
Appreciate your insight.
Paul F.

Q: Brookfield Asset Management (BAM) said Monday it plans to commence a normal course issuer bid to purchase up to 31.8 million of its class A limited voting shares, representing about 10% of the public float.
Can you tell me how many shares are outstanding. Can you also tell me how such a reduction in the public float might impact the dividends paid out to shareholders over time (e.g. direct correlation)? Could this be the type of company that might annually try to reduce its float 10% to drive its own stock price re-rating? Lastly, is it common for a new company/spin off such as this one to start buying back its own shares?

Q: I have noticed many questions to 5i recently where the subscriber asks why a particular stock ha dropped so much in a day. You respond that there is no news. An alternate response could be that "probably Dan C bought the stock the day before". Conversely, if a stock as a big unexplained jump, the response could be "probably Dan C sold it the day before". I hope this helps.
