Q: I have some shares of GE. I've been happy with the performance of the company over the past year. Today they announced a split into three companies. The market seems to take it well... Q: I would like to purchase about 5 ETF’s
Is there any advantage/ disadvantage to waiting till Jan 2022 as opposed to buying in 2021?
I know some mutual funds do a year end distribution which add income whic needs to be accounted for in current year’s taxes - I would like to avoid this
Do ETF’s have year end distributions ?

I have been a very patient investor in terms of holding losers...i have held this stock since 2013. If only i had the patience in holding my winners....
I don't want to repeat the mistake i make so often, once the stock gets back to my purchase price i sell.
Glacier Media looks like it might be finally turning a corner, what do you think?

Q: Good Morning, I have done well on NVDA these past two years and it has become just over 7% of my portfolio. In light of the current positive news on AMD, should an investor (like myself) consider trimming NVDA by 2% and buying some AMD. I know you like to let your winners run, and previous answers show that some members of the 5i team own both of these stocks. Do you still have more confidence in NVDA or has your opinion changed? Taxation is not a concern as NVDA is held in a registered account. Thanks very much. Brad

Q: Hi, Peter

Rates are going up. One of these days, we are going to wake up and hear the news that rates have gone up and we're all going to say, "Oh, geez, I wish I had done....X",

What's X? What will we wish we had done before rates start going back up?

What would be the implications of China waging a war on Taiwan on the markets..US and others may jump in too ..Chinese seem to stocking up groceries and other essentials..
Do you think slide due to Chinese real estate and the country’s policy to tech companies likely to continue and what sectors do you think will be most affected. Thanks for your insight.

Q: hello 5i Research team,
When you answer that Magna be among the companies that will benefit from the increase trend toward sales of EV: can you elaborate on how and why, and also which of MG reporting segments (body exteriors & structures; power & vision; seating systems; complete vehicles) will benefit and especially how will it benefit. I cannot specifically identify a winner. My intuition says « power & vison » will probably loose from the transition out of oil (it represents about 30% of sales: which is about appropriate for an entier vehicle). Therefore if I am correct, there is no specific advantage for MG from the transition to EV. Please enlighten me. Thank you for your collaboration, Eric

Q: What is the case for buying ECN? It hasn't done much since the announcement. You will get a whopping big dividend eventually but that's basically just being chopped off the value of the company so the stock value will plunge by around the same amount. Maybe the new remaining company will be worth more - or maybe not. But you can buy that after the split anyway if things are positive. Am I wrong here? Why should I buy ECN as opposed to something else which has strong momentum and performance?
