Q: I'm planning to add a REIT for a five year hold (for the combined growth and yield), which one of GRT.UN or CAR.UN would you recommend? Or, if there are others better than these two that I should consider? Thanks.

Q: Using DOO as an example, according to RBC, among 8 analysts the estimates for the Q1 range from .31 to .68 per share, thats a .37 variable. Roughly speaking, with over 97 million shares outstanding x .37 , that is over a $35M spread for only one quarter. Often stocks get rewarded or punished for missing estimates by pennies, I dont understand why so much emphasis, when in this case anyway it appears the analysts are throwing darts to come up with their numbers? Not much of a question, but I have lots.

Q: I noticed you recommended VT instead of EDG100. On morningstar I see VT has a 10 year annualized return of 11.93% and EDG100 has a 10 year annualized return of 15.09% net of fees. I understand VT has lower fees, but why make this substitution when EDG100 is outperforming so dramatically net net of fees? Am I missing something? Also, it seems like EDG100 does much better on the downside.

Q: Maestros of 5i - do you think Apple keeps on with its relentless climb back to $230 by the end of the year - still just a 16 PE - secondly is there a US tech stock that you believe has less downside risk than Apple while still having some growth to go with that (Cisco, Intel, or Microsoft perhaps or another you'd suggest) - thirdly if you were making one buy recommendation today with those criteria (safest US tech play with growth prospects) what's your call - Appreciate your insights - Ken

Q: Can you please tell me if employee options are currently, accurately reflected in US and Canadian financial statements? If not, how significant would this be to the balance sheets of companies, in particular tech stocks? After some research, I'm losing confidence in the auditing results of companies by the established accounting firms. Trump's appointment of Jay Clayton to the SEC concerns me even more as I'm thinking the system is already rigged against the small investor and we will see many more Sunbeam's , Enron's, Concordia's, etc. in the stock markets future. Please use as many credits as you feel necessary to give an in depth answer. Thank you

Q: I hold aa good amount of your income portfolio and about 50% of the balanced portfolio. But my u.s. exposure is only 12%. Would it be a good idea to use xei for Canadian dividend exposure as I require about 4.5% to live on in my outside accounts and sell down some of the balanced fund and invest in vun to bring my exposure higher. Also, what percentage of my total portfolio would you suggest in u.s.exposure...Thanks for the great service...Gene

Q: Bogle-style, self-directed investors (buying an exchange-traded fund which mirrors the S&P 500, e.g. SPY, VOO, IVV, RSP in an appropriate asset allocation) can probably ignore commissions today, especially on six-digit transactions. Even five-digit ones.

Can they ignore bid/ask spreads? Market orders get filled instantly, limit orders can take forever.

Q: I was comparing performance of these 2 ETFs and I was expecting correlated graphs.
After all, they track the same index. On 10 years the difference is huge.
All I could find is HXT prospectus talks about Total Return, while XIU doesn't use this phrase.
