Q: With the increase in interest rates, is this a good time to purchase bank stocks and what would be the preferred bank?

Q: Hello,
I am trying to understand how Horizons S&P 500 Index ETF tracks the index. At the moment I'm typing this message, the S&P 500 sits at 0% daily change, SPY at -0.03% while HXS is at -1.09% and HXS-U is at -1.08%. Why do we see such significant deviation from the index in $3.5B ETF with very high trading volume and close spread between bid and ask? Thanks.

Q: Hi!
With Bank of Canada raising 1 percent, I was surprised to see utilities perform well. I understand the sell off in banks would be due to loan losses. Would higher interest rates not be bad for the utilities or is it that these are seen as safety and therefore rising? Do you see utilities like Fortis and Emera as expensive now and would you support lightening up on banks to buy these due to higher risk with banks during potential recession?

Q: Hi 5i,
I have been following Sierra Wireless since mid May when it reported results that significantly beat expectations. It has moved steadily higher and today on above average volumes, it was up 6.45% on a down day in the market and hit a 1 year high and closed slightly below this high. I am wondering if SW will be a big beneficiary of the Federal Governments initiatives for a new telecom framework for resiliency through mutual assistance and emergency roaming? Would appreciate your thoughts on this perspective and what other companies could be beneficiaries?

Q: I have a question regarding the distributions for XIU, XIC and XAW. According to Morningstar these ETFs are close to 100% equities, yet it looks like interest income can make up a sizable component of the yearly distribution. I would have thought most of the distributions would be from dividends. Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Q: Hi Peter

I own Southern energy ,Mountain Province Diamonds, Vicinity Motors and healthspace .
All of these stocks have dropped significantly like the rest of the market .
Are there any issues with the fundamentals of these companies that justify these drops . Should i just wait out the current market jitters

Q: Retired, dividend-income investor. Can I have your latest thoughts on Leon's please?

I bought it over several tranches through 2021 to get to a "full" position and my average cost is $22.50. I am ok hanging on, while waiting for an upswing but also don't have a problem taking a tax loss and moving on. Not all investments work out.

Just looking for your thoughts going forward and what you would do?

Q: Now that Savaria stock price has lowered substantially since the beginning of the year, I am considering it for my income portfolio with its 4% yield and some growth. Before I do, I have the following questions:
1. In your opinion, is Savaria a "Capital Intensive" company? -- Capital intensive companies don't perform well during inflation period.
2. What is the dividend payout ratio over cashflow?
3. How do you feel about the debt level compared to its free cash flow? and
4. In your opinion, to what extent will higher interest rates impair their acquisition strategy. If they can't aquire other companies, what is the risk the growth becomes anemic?
