Q: In my last question you suggested VXUS for international diversification. Unable to buy in either TFSA or non registered accounts. I transferred all my U$ to C$ before the increase
In exchange rate, there is no reason for me to own U$ . At my age my expenditures are in C$.
Justlokking for an alternative to cash. I’m like the 80 year old in a question in g&m a couple of days ago, why invest when you’ve got enough.
I’ve accumulated a lot of cash in TFSA by selling outback in May at good profit after a health
scare.
Still investing in a portfolio that will leave my wife well situated.
Just in case you don’t know the stocks in registered and unregistered. Here they are: aqn, bam, bns, byd, cae, car.un,ecn, eif, enb, mg,pbh, slf,t,TFII,vdy,VFV,vgg, vvl, wasp.
I consider most of them sold except for smaller investment in byd and eif, but I don’t think they are going broke anytime soon.
Thank you for your excellent advise in the past and hope to be around to take advantage of your advise a little longer. Even though I’m an experienced investor it’s great to have an unbiased opinion such as years Peter. I was sort of hoping that would get to Toronto again and get a chance to talk to you .
All the best.
Q: Dear 5i,
Can you please suggest some Global Small Cap Value ETF's or Funds which are available in either US or CDN exchanges that are worth doing more reading on.
The ETF's can be passive or active.
Q: May I please have your current assessment of Canada Nickel? I assume it will require a huge capital raise or joint venture to create a mine of this potential size. Do you see any major problems currently or on the horizon for this early stage company?
With appreciation
Ed
Q: Hi, Recent chatter on 5i suggests Topicus shares as Bargain at $44 and Very Attractive at $25 (Based on present Sales), while it is currently trading at $78 after touching a High of $94. So two Questions:
1. Is the stock Expensive at current valuation ($78-$80) or a Good Buy ?
2. If we need to revisit Constellation Software, let's say 10 yrs ago, when stock traded in $80-$90 range, did CSU stock look Expensive or different from TOI's valuation Today ?
I am trying to visualize TOI from the same lens as CSU ( and its history) and make a reasonable assumption and investment decision, although CSU performance may not necessarily be replicated.
Please identify 6 currently undervalued US stocks (small, mid, large cap) with a track record of healthy dividend growth to sock away in an RRSP for the long term, in your order of preference. Thank-you.
Q: Hello 5i,
Income value investor with some growth stocks. Just received 16 shares of OGN. At 75 years I don't think I want to wait for "maybe" some growth. No dividend either. I would just sell them and by a few more MRK. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Q: What are your thoughts on FOOD? - valuation looks good and their results are positive, however the stock keeps trending down. I have a small position (around 1000 shares @ $6). I feel it will make a run at some point and do like the company and will likely hang on to it for the medium term. Thank you
Q: What are you thoughts on using broad based ETFs as "cash" in a portfolio? It seems like that's how the ARKK funds operate, except they are using stocks (I think GOOG and AMZN). To give you some context, my portfolio is mainly VGRO/VEQT, with some 5i stock suggestions for growth mixed in. I dollar cost average into the ETFs every two weeks but I'm wondering how I should approach adding to some of my stock positions and/or start a new position. Thanks as always.

Q: I have to laugh about inflation/CPI gaining ground versus same time last year? Really? With lock downs and pent up demand who would expect anything else. I read a great article from the head of the Fisher group in the USA. To summarize: this is transitory for the two reasons I mention and others. Be interested in 5i comments. Oh, the huge debt precludes any significant move up for interest rates. Would be happy to send it to you - very bright guy.
Q: This morning you responded to a question regarding the upcoming IPO for Anaergia. Where can I find information regarding it's IPO date and market symbol?
Thank you.
Q: This could be not so bright question but I'll ask anyway. I have been involved in self directed investing for a few months now. My plan is to create a 250k balanced portfolio....watch and learn for a while and then begin to invest the balance of my cash assets. I deployed the first tranche based on the sector allocations in my original plan. However as I have been building the portfolio stocks in various sectors have gone up and down....mostly up thankfully. Here's the question. Should I calculate my sector allocation percentages by the book cost...so I can get a baseline as I add more.....or by their current value. Thanks for your reply
Q: This stock is off close to 50% from its high. Is there anything fundamentally wrong or should I take my (considerable) profit and move on. Thanks, Bill
