Q: Hi Peter,

The recent drop in value for KXS is somewhat perplexing if this is solely attributed to the loss of one customer. We don't own the stock today but it is next on our list to purchase 1/2 to a full position. Do you recommend waiting for another few days or longer to purchase or would you purchase KXS now while it is exhibiting weakness?

Q: Hi there, I am looking to add 3 of the 5 names to my portfolio. I know you are a fan of all 5 but how would you rank these? I like a balanced approach but am open to growthier names and would be purchasing for a longterm hold. Thanks!

Q: Have held both KEY & PPL for 5+ years & enjoyed substantial gains & excellent dividends from both. However, major changes have taken place in this sector and I have decided to move on. In our principal Cash acct we hold KWH.UN, DRG.UN, WSP, PKI, LNR, RY, WPK, SIS, & CHW - all dividend paying. Would appreciate your suggestions for 2 or 3 CDN. replacements. My RIFF investments cover USA, Asia & Europe. Thank you.

Q: I seem to have a ...bad... habit of selling my winners and keeping my losers, especially Cdn resource co's, waiting for them to turn around.

Forest Co's under perform, constantly under U.S tariff threat.
Gold Co's and base metals ...who knows where commodity prices will go ?
Oil and gas ...Regulatory and fed govt is a disaster compared to U.S investment climate.

Are Cdn resource Co's only for stock pickers and short term traders in todays economic climate ?

Q: I was looking at adding another US position to my portfolio. I hold VUN, BAC and FB already. The rest of my portfolio is well diversified so any sector is fine. I was looking for a stock or two that you think has very good upside over the next 5 years or more. I'd prefer one that doesn't pay dividends. I was thinking of ICHR

Q: Hi. The sentiment seems to remain quite negative for the the smaller oil names like RRX. When even oil strengthens and the Cdn dollar weakens, it still goes down. I thought with oil firming up over the last couple of months, it would start to show some strength. Is it just Canadian smaller cap oil sentiment or is there something happening on Canadian netbacks or the longer end of the oil price curve that is driving this? Would you recommend continuing to hold? I could use the capital loss this year, what similar security would you recommend buying if I was to retain my exposure? Thanks!

With the demise of Sears and the "old news story" about the relationship between Sears and Easy Financial, does this have any negative implications for GSY going forward?

There's been bad press about Sears not honoring warranties among other aspects of Sears demise, and Easy Financial was mentioned since they took over from Chase Bank when, I presume, Chase Bank "saw the writing on the wall".

My wife holds GSY in her RRSP and it's been a stellar performer so far. Hopefully it will continue to be.

Q: I currently own a full position and have done quite well with it. I have noticed a few questionable advertisements that's been on FB however and I'm concerned about what may come of it. They've recently had adds for mail order marijuana. I've investigated and these company's have not licence and they are asking for absolutely nothing for you to buy their products. No medical license and not even age verification. I mean I can see it going really bad once a few teenagers get caught buying this stuff so easily. My gut is telling me to to sell my position or are least lighten my holding. I'm no expert on this type of thing and would appreciate your opinion.

Q: I am down 15% on this stock. I keep telling myself that there is less risk now with the price correction, but it keeps trending lower. I like the dividend, but what's the point when the loss of capital eliminates the dividend. I hold this stock in my RRIF. What do you see for this one 2 years out. If you suggest a sell here, what would you replace it with in the same sector. Thanks

Q: I am approaching my TFSA contribution limit and have opened a cash account. I'd appreciate your advice on how I should allocate stocks between the two accounts.

Currently my account consists primarily of micro/small/mid cap growth stocks and high dividend stocks. I am planning on adding some high dividend etfs.
I'd like to separate high growth stocks from dividend stocks/etfs.

My initial thought is to use my TFSA as a tax free income generator with the dividend stocks/etfs. As these stocks produce somewhat guaranteed gains I will definitely be utilizing the tax free incentive of the account.

While having my riskier growth stocks in a cash account where I am more likely to incur loses and can take advantage of tax loss rules. Also, if Im lucky enough to have a multi bagged I hope I wouldn't be too upset paying a bit of tax on the gain.

Does that make sense? Would you suggest otherwise and if so why?
