Q: What are your thoughts on utilities and Canadian telcos closer to the end of the interest rate cycle? Thinking of letting the insurance stocks I hold appreciate further in value and selling some to buy Canadian utilities and BCE and Telus since i own no shares in those three now and they will probably fall further. ???????

Q: Recently, I got cash from AAR.un buyout from Blackstone. To replace AAR.un I thought about these two companies (I have no exposure to senior housing now) What is your opinion about these two companies ?, Main risks and resistance to a downturn in the economy. Will you favour one over the other ? Or split the funds equally on both ?

Q: For your member looking to receive USD dividends after buying a CAD stock:
You should be able to buy BIP.UN or BEP.UN in your CAD trading account then have Scotia transfer the position to your USD trading account and make an election to receive the dividends in USD. This way the dividends will be paid in USD and remain in USD. From there the cash could be transferred to your USD bank account as needed.

Q: I wish to buy CDN cos that pay their dividends in US $ for my Scotia ITrade non registered account. I do not want the divs converted to CDN $ but go to a US $ bank account for US vacation. How do I set this up? Can I buy the stock with CDN $ (on TSX) or am I going to have to buy on an American exchange in US$. Scotia has told me the divs will converted to CDN then converted back to US (with fees for each conversion of course).I am not getting a clear answer from Scotia as to do this.

Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
Earlier today I wrote in about GES quarterly report. All factors considered I thought it was positive and showed progress. In your reply you said the turn around was moving "nicely". I agree with you. However Mr. Market sees it differently. The stock is crashing...down over 15% on heavy volume. So what do you think is going on. Were expectations too high? Is this just profit taking on a stock that has doubled this year. I think this stock must be a day traders delight for it seems very volatile. Your thoughts please.

Q: Greetings 5i team,

I am not sure i fully understand the risks associated with this floating rate ETF. Can you explain to me how they are paying out such a high dividend when the the underlying assets do not. In addition, is there an equivalent US ETF you would recommend. I need income in both Canada and the US!
