Q: I am considering purchase of one of the following 3, CTC, BNS, LB.
If one were to analyze the decision to purchase one of the 3 according to dividends only.
The question is spending 100 000 dollars to purchase any given one of the 3 today, along with the following assumptions, hold x 10 years, no dividend cuts and ongoing ANNUAL dividend growth at present rate (based on present dividend and last years' dividend growth)
CTC present dividend 1.038 dividend growth last year 13 %
BNS present dividend 0.87 and dividend growth last year 5.9%
LB present dividend 0.65 and dividend growth last year 4.2%
At the end of 10 years, WHAT WOULD MY DIVIDEND FOR EACH be in dollars ?
(I can't seem to get the math right and can't find a website calculator to help me.)
Your opinion about the PROS AND CONS of my approach to dividend investing would also be welcome.

Q: Hello Peter, Ryan and the 5-I Team,
I was very late to the cannabis party, but dipped my toes into a couple of stocks about 6 months ago. I have now done well on Village Farms and Canntrust in this short period of time. Of course, this may be a bubble, but with many states in the U.S. considering legalization, some argue that there is still a long runway ahead, especially for cannabis companies that will serving the American market. As well, with the change in US hemp farming laws, my understanding is that CBD products are now legal across the country.
I’ve also noticed (anecdotally) that at least a dozen of my friends and colleagues are using CBD oil on a regular basis (and I’m 55 years-old). It’s being recommended by some doctors and many naturopaths, leading me to think that it's becoming the new “aspirin”. My guess is that it’s going to be much more popular than Paw Patrol!
That brings me to my question. If you were going to take a position in a US CBD producer, would Charlotte's Web be one of your top picks, and if not, do you have any other suggestions? They have very slick marketing and claim to be the #1 brand by market share. Additionally, I read in the Globe yesterday, that Horizons Marijuana Life Sciences Index has just added Charlottes Web to their index.
Thanks,
Brad

Q: What do you see as the end game for Square? Do you think they will eventually get bought out by someone like Visa or MasterCard?
Q: What do you think of Osisko Mining for a growth play in the gold mining and exploration sector? Kirkland Gold has built a 10%+ stake in the past months, do you find it interesting? And what do you think of the announcement of their new spin-out : O3 mining?
Could you also recommend other small to mid caps in the gold mining and/or exploration ?
Thank you!

Q: I have been ignoring my RSP for years now , and I will have to do the Riff conversion in 2 years. I have a collection of failed stocks and $200,000 in cash sitting in 1 1/2% interest cash in my RSP .Yesterday I committed to buying the NPI offering , but my broker says I can change that to my margin acct or TFSA if I do it right away . If I clean it up , what equity names might you suggest for my RSP and where should the NPI go ? With 5% yield , is it an income stock ?
Thankyou ...
Thankyou ...

Q: Losing on good stocks which one I can buy more and double up or any other in your opinion?.I am looking for under value stocks.
Q: Please explain negative interest rates. Why would a bank or country pay someone to hold their money? How does this relate to countries purchasing their own debt? If the economy/markets are in good shape why would negative rates exist and why are they needed?
Q: I am interested in the 2 stock s listed ,which would you prefer ? Or would both be safe for my income portfolio thx.
Q: I believe in the common thinking that there are many reasons why insiders might sell a stock, but only one reason that they might buy; nevertheless I find the virtually relentless selling by insiders of this stock over the past year to be quite breathtaking. Can you please give your assessment?
Q: We’ve owned six rate-reset preferreds for close to 10 years. What an experience! One (RBC) was just recalled. Here’s our present status:
Book Market
BNS..PR.Z $238k $228k $10k
BMO.PR.Q $123k $114k $ 9k
TA.PR.J $125k $91k $34k
BAM.PR.R $121k $76k $45k
ENB.PF.E $112k $75k $37k
I worry less now about our preferreds as our IA predicts most of ours will get recalled. Your thoughts please? I 'think' there's a place in our portfolio for some blue-chip preferreds even if not recalled. Having said that, I still don’t grasp preferreds nearly as much as I should, eg what the principal amounts will be if not recalled. Your thoughts please? The huge gap for three of our five also causes me to worry a bit about what’s happening to retail holders like us. Thanks.

Q: Hi
Please help me with a 100,000 foot scan of the telco space. The hypothesis is the Cdn. Telcos are extremely vulnerable to the combined threat of cord cutting and streaming. Customers cancel cable, stream their entertainment with unlimited choice via ROKU. Telcos suffer. Our nice dividend growers fade.
Is it too soon to sell? Appreciate your take.
Thanks Frank

Q: Does the can - us dollar have an impact on Canadian bank prices? Say the Can$ loses 10% would that have a significant effect on the stock price?
Q: Hello,
Lyft and Uber will be going public soon, would you recommend purchasing shares after the IPO? Growth has been great for both companies but obviously they are losing a lot of money as they grow.
What is the general strategy for IPOs ie. Lightspeed POS? Should you typically wait for first qtr results before you buy? I considered stocks like FB, MongoDB and could have done quite well. Also I believe that employees have to hold shares for at least 6 mths (not sure of exact timeframe) before they sell so wondering if that would have an impact when insiders with a considerable number of shares are allowed to sell.
Thanks,
Neeraj
