Q: say for example you have a million dollar portfolio, 800K in your RRSP and 200K in your TFSA. You want to hold 10 stocks total so 100K each, does that mean you would only hold 2 in your TFSA?
Q: What is your take on Galaxy's participation in a group investing in Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) - not in your system - earlier in July?
I hold Galaxy but not Bitmine which invests in Ethereum but I would like to know about BMNR also.
Q: Do you feel the valuation is stretched? Have been tracking results quarterly for the past 2 years and have noticed the number of stores, including Dollarcity, has been increasing while, at the same time, the number of common shares outstanding has been decreasing. I feel those 2 metrics are very favourable for the shareholder.
An option I have been considering is taking profits in DOL and investing the proceeds in CHP.UN and just compound the 5.1% yield. I recognize there is some risk with Choice REIT but it seems to one of the most conservative REITs available. The reason I am considering this option is my parents, over the course of their lives, lived frugally and saved a substantial amount of money by simply purchasing GICs and reinvesting proceeds on maturity; they never took any equity risk.
Q: I hold partial positions in listed stocks. I would like to reduce and have a more concentrated sector holdings. Please advise those that can be dropped in favour of increasing the remainder and adding XLI for larger industrials. Could you rank with weights. What sector weight would you advise for total US and Cdn industrials? Thanks
My last question about ranking my industrial sector holdings, I omitted to add HEI and TDG. Hope you could add to your reply. THx
Q: This company has had a rough go since the last Q's results. To me it looks like a very stable business that is now trading at trough multiples. It looks like the buyback has been re-initiated at these levels. Feels like this might be an opportunity - do you agree?
Q: Thoughts on these aerospace companies? TDG and HEI have been great compounders over long term and LOAR is a fairly newcomer. Can you compare the fundamentals against each other and if you wanted to buy now, how would you rank them? LOAR has higher growth potential but valuation is higher too. Thanks!
I know this has been asked before but worth repeating I think. I cannot locate the earlier answers. How would you play the big increase in defense spending Canada if faced with.
Q: Given the current trade situation which has affected TFI, it has most certainly affected other transport companies as well. Is TFI currently financially strong enough to take advantage and make some acquisitions
Q: It appears FN is to be acquired, but the pref shares are remaining as is and will still trade as before on the tse.
Why then did this pref advance by 9% on this announcement. Is it the fact it is now backed by Brookfield
Q: Hi,
I am thinking of selling my CIBC stock, as it has done well, but now has become relatively expensive compared to historical averages, and the dividend yield is comparatively lower. Can I get your top 3 choices in each of 1) big banks/financial institutions 2) mid cap financial institutions. and can I get your top 2 in small cap financials. All Canadian please.
cheers, Chris
Can you please comment on Laurentian Bank. I am very disappointed in this company as the price has fallen significantly in addition to dividends cut a few years back.
its in my registered account, so cannot utilizes the losses
My question, Do you think that they are a potential take over target? Perhaps TD?
With BCE, again very disappointed in this company. With their recent dividend cut, do you think we have seen bottom on stock price? I do see that it has had some growth lately, but it has a long way to go
With CGO, Do you think that their is an opportunity for both Telus and Cogeco to merge? Or see CGO as a take over target now?
Q: Hello,
I recently came across this ETF,. The performance in all yearly metrics is really quite impressive, beating all inclusive ETFs like SPY, DIA and even QQQ. Interestingly, there have been no questions asked about this when I searched. Do you have any thoughts on this ETF? Thank you for your excellent services.
Q: Good morning, I’m thinking about selling DSG and buying PRL or EIF. This would be for my TFSA. Which of the two would be a better option. No concerns about allocation, thanks.
Q: Hi 5i,
Please explain what I am missing about LMN, which is a name I know you are high on, and which has obviously done well as far as share price appreciation is concerned.
When I review its numbers nothing jumps out at me as a reason to buy - in fact, the opposite: EPS is -1.73; Revenue is substantial but no earnings that I can see - in fact pre-tax profit margin is -210.10%. ROE, ROA and ROC all seem meh to me, while price to sales and price to book seem high.
If it wasn't for 5i's recommendations regarding LMN, based on the numbers I don't think I would give it a second look.
I'm not adverse to owning it, especially given that lots of others seem to want to, and are willing to pay dearly for it. But why would I -or why would anyone else? Is it solely because its a CSU spinoff?
Please enlighten me. Thanks!
Peter
