Q: Looking at some Canadian companies that are involved in various aspects of consumer activity such as retail, investing, borrowing. Please rate each of the following on a scale of 1-10 for desirability for a 5+ year hold in a well diversified portfolio. Looking for good total return with a higher than average tolerance for share price volatility. These would not be core positions. CF, EQB, GOOS, NFI, PBI, PLC, TSU, TOY, ZZZ.

Q: Hi, what do you think of the digital games portfolio of spinmasters ? Do you think that this part of the company will produce major growth in the future ? I read in their 2021 playbook that: The Company’s digital games business saw considerable growth and popularity in 2020, largely due to the growth of the Toca Life World franchise. As of March 2021, the Toca Boca ecosystem had over
50 million monthly active users, more than double the same period last year. The Toca Boca studio will continue to pioneer digital play with the introduction of its first multiplayer game, Toca Days, set to go live at the end of 2021.

The Toca life world and toca hair salon are presently ranked 4 and 5 in the apple education app store.

Thanks

Q: Hi,

I have held both MFI and TOY for several years now. Much to my surprise both popped today from earnings. I am thinking about selling both of these to switch into NVEI (after their earnings next week).

I get that none of these companies are comparable on any metric-but I am interested in your viewpoint of selling stocks that have upward momentum to buy into a stock that currently has downward momentum.

Thanks,
Brad

Q: Hi 5i team,

In your last updated report on Spin Master (TOY) you had indicated....OCT 13, 2020 - The company still shows long-term promise but management has missed on estimates more frequently than we would like. Meanwhile, margins have been deteriorating over the last two years. Rating downgraded to 'B'.
At that time you had downgraded the stock.
Have the margins improved over the last several quarters since this report to change/improve your view? Was there any management change since then to improve things, ie less missed forecasts?
There are some potential catalysts upcoming (Paw Patrol movie release, holiday season shopping, some toy news articles are pegging Peek-a Roo as the 'It' toy to buy this year (similar to Hatchimals toy of the year), etc,).
Could this be enough to get this stock back to its' glory days coupled with improving margins? Is the stock fairly valued these days or on the cheaper side?
(Motley Fool site has been mentioning this stock several times in the last month.)
I held this stock a few years ago and did well with it. Perhaps time to buy again?

Cheers,
Steve

Q: The large toy companies have warned there will be big shortages of toys this fall and winter and that prices will be higher. What industries will be the winners and losers? If people choose not to spend on toys where do you think that money will be spent on, assuming it will be spent?

Q: TOY reported recent QTR with quite good numbers and future quildance and considering DC issues are the past. Stock reacted well towards $41 and recently stepped back to $35 range.
Do you see any issues here considering management not meeting promises in the past, how do you rate TOY is this a good hold to reach its old glory price range in the 60 or its a dump, if so what will you replace with.

Q: Hello,
I already own these stocks. I am doing some selling / trimming / buying and would appreciate your comments:
DSG - I did well. Exposure at the high end but ok. How confident are you in the name for the next few years? If sold partially, I would allocated to KXS of TIXT. Your thoughts?
TOY - Do you like it more with momentum as of late? Decent long term hold or good time to sell at these level?
REAL - I am down about 25% but small position. I was thinking of adding at these level (or sell since position not big enough). It would be a long term hold. Your thoughts?
NFI - Hold or sell?
Fortis - Would you add at these level?
Thank you,
