Q: I have a negative view of the future for oil and gas stocks. The world seems awash in oil, OPEC is a dead pigeon and demand is weakening and will continue downhill rapidly as electric cars become the fashion. CNQ and many of the oil majors seem to me to be over-priced and shorting them would be a good trade. Is this a crazy idea?
Thanks, Peter

Q: I would like to increase my exposure (at the understood risk of return chasing) to US industrials and defence companies that seem set to rally under the new regime in the White House. I would like to do this without paying the punitive buy/sell exchange rates offered by my bank. Does the above mentioned ETF look ok to you? Any others that you would recommend? I would be interested in ones with some exposure to steel/base metals/US financials too.

Q: I'm 78 and interested in income with security of capital and I'm wondering about changing the percentage allocation of various sectors. For example, rather than hold 5% in each of healthcare, materials and energy, I'm considering holding 15% in healthcare. NWH.un, SIA, DR and SIS are broadly diversified within the sector, provide an excellent average income and have been generally approved by 5i. What do you think, and feel free to make suggestions.

Thanks for all the steady, interesting and profitable suggestions daily.

Q: I own RNW for income. I bought in Jan. 2016, so I have a capital gain of 37%. For long term safety and security of both my principle and the dividends, would you favor selling RNW and buying BEP.UN with the proceeds? The yields are similar. (RNW 6.48%, BEP.UN 6.052. I just don't want to get caught if RNW shares start declining.

Q: Soooo many questions regarding bonds ... not surprising when so many of us have enjoyed the "safe" dividends.

My question: given the concerns regarding bonds in general in a rising rate environment, would you recommend this as good time to add XRB or a similar/better product to the fixed income portion of one's portfolio?

Thanks for your guidance here.

Q: I read that Badger Daylighting was upgraded lately by BMO, with a new target at 33. But I cannot find that report. Can you confirm? Also, if you can find it, can you tell me why they like it again? Anything specific about their business is expected to do better? I assume the increase in U.S infrastructure spending is likely to get them more contracts, since they do have trucks in the U.S? I own 1/2 a position. Thank you.

Q: I appreciate that the key driver for Potash stock performance is pricing. Having said that, Potash owns ~ 1/3 of Sociedad Quimica Y Minera in Chile. In addition to potash, SQM produces lithium, described by some as the "gasoline of the future" for its use in making batteries. Does 5i feel SQM's lithium potential is under-represented in Potash's stock price, or is it insignificant in the total picture for the company?
