Q: Who answers the questions?
How many different people are involved?
What are their qualifications?
I ask because the answers seem to range from very specific to the kind of answer you’d expect from a politician.
When a member asks to have stocks ranked would they get different answers depending on who is answering the question?
Oh yeah and what is the purpose of the little heart next to the question?

Q: Hi
I smile at the moaning and dripping about stocks like XBC and MRS.
Bottom line high risk = high reward or goes lower.
We build our wealth on this type of investing.
Do not bet the farm on one these stocks, buy sell re buy sell. We play the same stock over and over.
Take our profits and buy boring stocks like FTS,
You need torque and this is a great way to do it.
Not every stock is a SHOP.
If we an double a penny stock, try to get that on a GIC.
I would lister to 5i before some random dude on some web site.
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers

Q: Brad asked a question on April 7th about phantom distributions. It is worth checking your investment statement to ensure they increase the ACB for capital gains. I have found it is not always done and investment houses don't always understand the proper procedure.

Q: Good morning 5i
A question regarding the tax status when an option is closed out by buying it back before expiration date. I believe that amount would be credited as a capital loss, if the underlying stock was not sold. Am i right on this assumption?
Thanks

Q: For a stock price to double in 5 years requires an average gain of about 15% compounded, annually. Would you please rank these 12 stocks in order for the likelihood, in your opinion, they will double in price in the next 5 years. Roughly how many of these 12 would you expect to achieve that target? Assuming no major long term market melt down which would preclude good stock performance over this period. CTS, DCBO, DND, DOO, ECN, GOOS, GSY, KXS, MG, NVEI, PHO, TIXT.

Q: I hold 2,000 shares of BPY.UN in my RRIF. Is there any indication as to the yield on the BPY Preferred units (0.7268 per BPY.UN unit) will be? I need a high cash flow to meet the required annual withdrawal from the RRIF. If I sell the BPY.UN shares where can I find a similar yield for my RRIF?
Brookfield plans to start a Global Impact Fund. Are there any details available and when is expected to open?

Q: I have been looking at these two ETFs. The top 10 holdings in VDY look like buy and hold companies. It seems a bit heavy on banks so really wondering about your short-term outlook on CDN banks for the rest of the year?

HGRO has had a good run in 2020 and certainly not expecting as spectacular in 2021, but do you think it will continue to do reasonably well (your thoughts would be greatly appreciated please? I realize you do not have a crystal ball).

Do you think the combo of these two would be a good idea say 50:50? The idea would be for growth as remainder of portfolio is with you balanced ETF model portfolio.

Thanks so much.

Q: As retired farmers we have owned Caterpillar, Cummins and John Deere in our industrial sector for many years. We prefer companies to which we can understand and relate.
Have you suggestions of additional larger solid U.S. industrial companies with growth potential? We also are shareholders of aerospace sector companies NOC and RTX.
Thank you so much for your great service!!!
