Q: Assuming the market recovers at some point, will CAD & anticipated lower rates cause banks to recover last on a relative basis from this point onwards?

Q: I am finally looking at converting some of my RIF to bonds in order to get a stable income to add to pension. The funds will be divided equally between CBO,XBB,XHY. I have not invested in bond funds before and would really like to better understand what affects the price movement of these three particular funds. I have done a browse on Moneysaver past issues but can't find anything that really gives me the info I'm looking for. Could you give a quick explanation or maybe suggest some alternative resource ?
Many thanks

Q: Good afternoon Peter and Team,
I 'attempt' to offer advice to my son who wishes to contribute his $5500 to this year's TFSA. At the present, his TFSA holds the following:
DHX.B (8.9%); EMA (19.9%); HXS (13.7%); GUD (8.5%); MDA (18.4%); SIS (6.7%); WSP (24%).
Should he add to an existing position, or should he start a new position (KXS is one we're considering)? Also, should some re-balancing occur? (Both EMA and WSP have done well).
Thanks as always.

Q: Hi Peter, I'm looking to build a core of ETF's (x-Canada), what would you recommend for a moderate aggressive portfolio?
Q: Hi 5. Which USD currency etf would you suggest to protect against a falling CAD vs USD? I see DLR.TO might work. Is there a better/larger one that you are aware of? I am not interested in an etf that mirrors US equities or US fixed income, just the USD currency.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: Could you explain the difference between VSB & VSC and what your preference would be for a parking cash for the short term of 6 to 12 months and if you would recommend either? With thanks, Bill
Q: XTR pays a dividend of 6.99% currently. What is your opinion of a new retiree purchasing this ETF and holding it in a TFSA account? Would it be better to hold it in an RRSP or margin account? Is the 6.99% considered a dividend or income for tax purposes? Is the income reliable long term? Would CDZ be a better choice? Thank you for your excellent service!!!!
Q: What is your opinion on holding this for a year or so.
Q: In the event that the US dollar bubble bursts, is there an ETF or some common stocks (Can or US) that could make us some money?
Q: What European ETF's do you like that are denominated in U.S. dollars.
Many thanks
Paul

Q: I parked money in PSA in order to get a 1% retune while I decide what to do with the cash. I notice on the Purpose Investment website the following disclaimer
"Fund securities are not covered by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation or by any other government deposit insurer"
Can you comment. I was under the impression that 100K is insured under CDIC
Thanks! Nice to have a go to service to ask these type of questions

Q: I do not own any gold stocks. Rather than trying to pick two or three for 5 percent of my portfolio what etf woukd
you recommend to give me diversification and less risk.

Q: Hi, Peter
For the ETF investor, do you see the current market drop as a buying time? Are there Canadian and US ETFs that you would recommend now? VDU? CDZ?
Thanks,
Robert

Q: What would be your recommendations for investment vehicles (with low MER) to hold cash at this time?
Q: Hopefully, this question provides a simple answer. I have approx $100k in liquidity that I'd like to 'park' in whatever equity or REIT you feel is risk averse and would provide some dividend or interest income - bonds aside. I can leave the funds there for 2 to 4 years. At 66 years of age, I cannot afford to lose principal. I am not concerned with currency fluctuation.
Q: If buying an income bond fund should one keep the weighting to 5% of the portfolio?
Q: Hi Peter and team,
Is it now a good time to buy US financial and industrial Sector ETF, like XLF and VIS?
Thanks

Q: I have investments in the US and Europe and have started to think that India might be a good place to enter into the emerging markets as part of my Global diversification. Would you agree?
What are the options for investing in India and can you make any recommendations?

Q: hi, what do think about CPD? is now a good time to buy and hold...
Q: Just to add I do not recall the HORIZONS BETAPRO S&P/TSX 60 INVERSE ETF (TSE:HIX) being mentioned for us Canucks on the TSX.
It is an ETF.
It is an inverse meaning it rises when the S&P/TSX 60 falls and coversely it falls when the S&P/TSX 60 rises. Similar to the U.S's VXX.
