Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Sadly, I held on to my position and the share value has gone from bad to worse. I see it is now listed on the Venture. When and why did that happen? When do they report their fiscal year's results? Do you have any info on estimates? I know you removed it from your portfolio and gave a fairly negative assessment on their performance, but will ask any way...is there any hope for improvement once tax loss selling is done?
Thanks for your good service.

Q: Noticed that NFI is in the balanced portfolio and also in the Income one. Also the return has been very negative (-28%). However, it has a good dividend and a LTM plan behind the production of electric buses. Analysts at TDWaterhouse do no like it . In the last 5 months it seems that its price is making a base. Do you think that a contrarian approach could work here?, How would you rate its management ?, would it be worth to buy and hold the stock for 5 years ?, what is its biggest risk to make it underperfom ?, How safe is the dividend ?, Does it have a high debt ratio ?
thanks

Q: Everything about NFI says it should be taken out behind the barn and shot. I can't think of a single reason to keep it because:
a) the momentum is horrible
b) the fundamentals are not good
c) there are many amazing stocks with better stories and momentum

The only reason I can imagine to keep it is for a potential bounce once tax loss selling abates. My question is why/how it can be justified to keep this in a portfolio in an environment with better opportunities elsewhere? Can you give me the case to hold vs the points above?

Q: I liked your response to Bill on Shopify. You have considerable experience in portfolio management and probably with M&A activities too. This is a two part question.
You have been in situations where you got nervous with a 15% position in a single stock and assume it was not something like Nortel. I would appreciate if you could share with us how you handled it and what was the outcome; without giving specifics if you do not want to.
Secondly, everything has a price even if there are different metrics used for different businesses/sectors. There would be a price which even Lutke would find hard to resist. Retirement would not be a factor but for most retaiil investors it would be so. So at what price point however outlandish, would you advise to pack it in.
As always, i appreciate what you have to say.

Q: I find it curious to read this and realize that a senior officer at SHOP owns so few shares of the company he works for. He owns less than I do.

If I'm correct he's the COO.
"Shopify Inc (TSE:SHOP) Senior Officer Harley Michael Finkelstein sold 416 shares of the business's stock in a transaction that occurred on Monday, November 25th. The shares were sold at an average price of C$413.77, for a total value of C$172,126.94. Following the completion of the sale, the insider now directly owns 517 shares of the company's stock, valued at approximately C$213,917.37. "

So my question is why would you guess would the COO of a fast growing company like SHOP own so little stock. Doesn't show a lot of confidence in the company to me.

Q: Hello team,

Do you see today as a good buying opp for LSPD? Does a takeover rumor of SHOP really justify a drop in LSPD? To me, it doesn't seem like it, and the notion that it would , would be based on a lot of presumptions that the sale of SHOP would hurt Lightspeed in any meaningful way. I have seen days like this before and more often than not prove to be good buying opportunities in a short period of time. Your thoughts please, thanks.
