Q: Happy St. Patrick's Day
For yield and safety would you recommend a holding in Superior? Is the dividend safe? If yes, would you choose the common or convertable preferred?
Q: Hello Peter,
I consider stocks such as chartwell and jean coutu to be fairly stable over a 3 to 5 year time frame. If these types of stocks go up 15 percent in a short time (less than 6 months), is it better to sell half a position and consider buying it back when it pulls back or it is best just to hang on to it for the long run? Also, to add to my gold and resource position, i was thinking of adding to sprott inc, but for some reason, the stock has not moved. I understand you worked at Sprott but i am using it as an example of a asset management company that specializes in precious metals and resource stocks. thanks very much.
Q: Hi,
Is it time to get back into industrials? or should I wait? If so, can you recommend a couple names in both CDN and U.S. stocks or efts that pay a decent dividend, are large cap, good value and suitable for holding for at least two years.
Q: Since the takeover offer for LSG, has your opinion changed materially from last Nov. I am ahead on LSG now and wonder whether I should take my profit or tender my shares. Harry
Q: GS is down 9% today in conjunction with an announcement about the resolution of a dispute between GS and its founders. Although very annoying, should I be fundamentally concerned with the company?
Q: I have a LOT of Surge. Bought close to or under $2.00. My thinking was that as oil rises - so will Surge. Oils rising and surge is falling. My wcp acts as I expect it / what am I missing on my logic with surge??
Q: Hi can you please comment on the (potential) money owed to the founders of the company? How likely will this need to be paid and what impact would it have? Would you consider GS a buy right now, or a hold if I presently own it?
Q: Further to the Dutch auction, I am trying to figure out the affect this auction may have on the current and future stock price. When exactly does the company buy the stock? Do they do one big purchase on Apr 15 or buy daily along the way? Will the stock stay between $34 - $38 during the auction period or if the stock goes above $38 does the company end the auction? Finally, by putting a purchase price with a ceiling of $38 is the company saying that is what they think the stock is worth?
Q: Hi Peter...WSP has come down to it's support from its February lows. It's yield has compressed to north of 4%. I'm thinking of putting it in my RRSP. Could you comment on my idea and what down side you might perceive from here. Thanks
Nicholas
