Q: Thoughts on this company's metrics if one's portfolio is low in consumer staples. Buy, sell, or hold? If you don't like which consumer staples companies in the US are better and is it a bad time to add knowing they have done well in a bad market. Thinking people may sell and rotate into tech. Thank you!

Q: Hi 5i Team

Pretty disappointing day for AQN investors. Three questions:

1) Do you think they will need to do an equity raise in 2023 relating to the Kentucky Power acquisition? Initially, they're planning to cover it through existing borrowings (at floating rates) but management indicated on the CC that is expected to be short term.

2) Do you have any info on the actual NAV of their assets (thinking of this like a REIT)? If not, any suggestions where to look / how to calc?

3) Given the importance of dividends to investors (current and future), what will likely be the catalyst for cutting it and how long do you think they will hold the line before deciding it's necessary?

Thanks
Peter

Q: On the recent report card for this REIT some numbers given at the top do not agree with those at the bottom under key stats eg 5 yr. revenue growth, current ratio, insider ownership etc. Which to believe?

Also I very much miss the Peer Relative Valuation section we used to see at the bottom instead of key stats that surely should be a duplicate of those above. Any chance of reviving this informative area?

Q: You mentioned this morning that "Roughly half of Manulifes business is exposed to China". I used to work for them in Asia x 10 years until last year. They own 49% of their joint venture IN China, but I don't believe anywhere near half of their global business is exposed to China. I stand to be corrected but I would guess the number is more like 5-10%.

Q: Good morning all at 5i!!

I hold both having just purchased capital power a little while ago. I have held Algonquin for a long time. Should I sell Algonquin shares and buy more Capital power, or keep both since they are held in different portfolios???
Cheers,

Q: Peter; Minister Joly has basically warned Canadian companies to expect upcoming government positions on China and to be “ clear eyed” when doing business there. Are there any companies, already doing business there, that might be affected? Thanks

Q: Hello 5i,
I own all the above stocks and have ridden them up and down in this market, so my risk tolerance is fairly high.
Could rank them for future growth and survivability? Also, If I were to consolidate the five into two or three what might you recommend?
Thank you
Dave

Q: Hello,

I need to sell approximately $100,000 from my Unregistered account. I am trying to hold off as long as possible. Looking for your suggestions on which of the listed ETF's I should sell or should I sell a certain percentage from each one given where the market is now and where it might be going? If Industrials or Health care, etc. are projected to go higher then I obviously want to sell out from some other sectors.

Thanks for your great service. It was much easier to stay the course with my diversified portfolio and Portfolio Analytics keeping me on track.

Q: The financials segment of my RRIF consists of BMO, BNS, RY with a 25 % total portfolio weighting.
I am looking at selling the 3 and replacing them with HCAL. Believing in the long term growth and security of the Canadian banks , I see this move as providing both higher stock price movement with its 1.25 leverage and higher dividend yield. I see the disadvantages being a nearly 1.00 % MER and greater lose potential in a falling market.
Am I missing any other advantages/ disadvantages ? Would you recommend replacing bank stocks with this ETF and why ?
Thanks
Derek
