Q: A member asked who was trading PHO at the end of trading on Friday. In your reply, you observed that TD and Anonymous were, respectively, a major buyer and seller. This same sort of topic pops up on stock discussion boards. My question is: what do traders/investors who seek this sort of information get out of it? What possible significance can there be to which brokers are on one or the other side of a trade?

Q: I'm looking to invest a small amount of money for an 8 year old, primarily to introduce him to investing. I'd like to invest in companies that he can see the name of around the city, or in his hand to make it 'real' to him. Are there 2-3 such companies that you could recommend for a keen youngster? An ETF that includes recognizable companies to a child is an option, if you can recommend one also.

Q: What are your thoughts on the discretionary sector at this point of the cycle, specifically XCD?

Q: A lot of research and writing has addressed the reality that it is *very* hard for an active fund manager/stock picker to beat the indices on an after-fee basis.

But what about the bond market? Does 5i know of a body of research/evidence that explores whether or not over time, an active bond trader/manager could beat a passive bond index fund such as XBB/VAB/ZAG? Should I go passive or active with my fixed income allocation? Which actively managed fixed income ETFs do you like, if any?

Q: Regarding the recent earnings report for this company you had mentioned competition as being part of the reason the stock price responded so negatively. My impression was that NWC had a competitive advantage, and was a somewhat "moat-like" stock. Would this be a false assumption? Are there any concerns here that would suggest a dividend growth investor should sell and look elsewhere?

Q: I have held Loblaws for ten plus years and really liked the Shoppers acquisition. With the grocery business low margins and increased competition, would it make sense to move to a more pure play global pharmacy company like Walgreens to play the aging demographics?

Q: Hello,

Q: To add to what Steven comment today on the Company. I respect M. Goodman view on the long term goals of the company. His analogy for is "grandchildren" and stockholders would make sense if at the very least a dividend would be paid for waiting.
This would a small way to compensate to the shareholders while we are supporting the company.
