I just purchased a very small position of NLY for its attractive
yield in RRSP. Is the yield save?

Q: Do you think it is worth the risk to buy any dividend paying energy stocks at this time. Would need to have a good balance sheet and have potential for some significant upside to offset the risk. Please list the equities in order that you would acquire? Would you buy a full or part position

Q: I'm confused by the latest report. CXI has had pending approval for a Schedule 1 Bank since before your first report Dec.1, 2014. If OSFI is doing the approving and now with a new Federal Govt. the process could take longer are you saying that this is somehow a political decision and not a bureaucratic one? What is the normal length of time for approval and if it has stretched on this long does that increase prospects for denial? It seems to me the takeover of CFF Bank by HCG in Oct. has been a huge ho-hum with stock down 20% since, so just how much upside has CXI vs. the potential further downside? Thanks, J.

I have noticed in a number of occasions when the stock.20,50 and 200 day moving average intersect at the same time it is a bullish signal and the stock has just taken off. What is your take on this one.

Q: Hello, my friend is starting a tfsa with about $6000. Low tolerance to risk but long term horizon (in her 20s) She was asking me advice and i wanted to run my thoughts by you : 35% zcs, 40% cdz and 25% xei. Is it sound advice ? Is it worthwhile to split the equity portion between those 2 given the amount invested ? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Q: What are your thoughts on the recent financing? I have heard it stated that it is an unwelcome development because the 20% Chinese ownership and 2 Board seats will give them an effective veto over a possible buyout and limit the upside. On the other hand, they will have enough money for several years of drilling, and possibly minimized dilution as much as possible, given the state of the uranium market. Would you buy at this price? Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter,

Is writing puts a good strategy to acquire stocks as you not only earn premium from day one which can be invested immediately and if you get called you will be buying the stock at a discount. I have adopted this strategy and I got called only once i.e potash which is offering me 8%dividend enough to cover my borrowing at 3% and don't forget the interest is deductible.

Q: I am wondering if I can learn anything about retail investor psychology, the mind set of many and their "investing" approach so as to permit me to better understand and possibly forecast movements and/or trends, and timing, for example.

Specifically, having been a member here now for over a year I constantly see, but have not done a exact study, many, many members posting questions about the same handful of stocks over and over and over... Often only a day is all that exists between the last same/similar stock question in some shape or form with basically the same answer as the only answer available.

What might a lowly investor always striving to improve learn from this?

- Is it that some never read earlier posts?
- Is it that some only look here, say, once a week and do not have the time to do a search or read the heading for the day's posts?
- Is it because some think, "I paid so I can ask whatever, whenever I want"?
- Is it because they are nervous and not really as risk tolerant with stocks as they could be?
- Do they not simply go to Google Finance or some similar site and click on the NEWS once they entered a stock symbol? As this would answer many questions.

Am I missing something?

I can say I learn a lot about other, new to me, investing possibilities from fellow posters also.

Q: Am I correct in interpreting Mr Entwhistle's purchase of $10m of Telus shares as a large expression of confidence in the Company and as good news for Telus shareholders?
Can you speculate as to where the funds to make this purchase might have come from -- cash holdings (re)deployed, or would he have likely sold other holdings? It would really be interesting to know what, if anything, was sold to finance this purchase.

Q: Hi,
What are the forecasted forward earnings for Uniselect? Qtrade shows Q4 2015 earnings declining over Q4 2014 earnings and 2016 earnings being less than 2015 earnings. Are you comfortable with purchasing this stock at today's levels and are there any significant risks to be aware of? Thanks.

Q: My question pertains to the loan Gud made to Extenway in June 2015. After looking at the Extenway financials I am perplexed to find a reason why GUD management would have entered into such an agreement in the first place. If their loan portfolio is anywhere close to this transaction I think there is a serious problem. Could I get your thoughts on this one.
