Q: I just heard about the takeover. As a buy-and-hold, longterm dividend investor, I was very happy owning ECI, but wouldn't mind owning BIP.UN, either.
What should I do with my ECI shares? Will they get 'converted' into BIP.UN shares? If I were to sell my ECI shares and buy another consumer stock, which would you recommend? Either similar dividend as ECI or can accept slightly lower yield if stronger dividend growth is anticipated (maybe CTC.A?). This is for extremely long-term hold (hopefully forever), please do not include any suggestions from your Balanced and Income Portfolios.
Thank you.

Q: Should we sell on this news. I do not believe a better offer will be forthcoming
Thanks
Thanks
Q: As always, thank you.
I have $40K of each. What do I do now? A nice problem...

Q: Thanks for this one, I managed to hold in to it for a nice reward today. What would you replace this with now? Thanks for your great service!

Q: Would you sell enercare now or take the shares of bip. I have a 1000 shares of eci at an average cost of 2.62. I am an income investor and like monthly dividend paying stocks but could make an exception for bip. Do you feel this deal will go through.
Q: I'd like to echo Adam. I owned ECI prior to today and was thinking of adding to the position. After a BNN guest panned it on Monday I was instead thinking I should perhaps cut and sell. After your quick reassurance yesterday I added to the position. This is the value of this site; letting people who are not experts in business finance and don't have the time to monitor the finances of every company they invest in ask a simple question of those who are and do.
Q: What is your opinion on holding onto ECI shares and exchanging them for BIP.UN?
Q: Big shout out to 5i on this one...thank you very much...fan forever!
Q: Just recently discovered that my daughter (30 years of age) has been investing in this company through mutual funds. Could you please do a thorough review and advise which of the funds that they offer are best for a long strong solid growth vehicle and taking also into consideration the least cost in management fees(mer's).
Many thanks.

Q: Hi Peter,
Currently own CHE.UN - have been following your comments/answers & appreciate your answer to my previous question re: 4.6% drop on Aug 8
Your comments "stock not cheap" (P/E is 15 = not bad?), dividend not increased in 10 yrs (but currently 8% = pretty good & sustainable), downgraded by Desjardins from $19 > $17 (but currently trading at $14.7 = undervalued?) with 3 yr price range between $15-$20
That said, what is your outlook for CHE.UN and would you consider a BUY (more for income vs. growth perhaps?) - if not, why?
BTW - have made money on most of your insights - THANK YOU

Q: Hello can you comment on earnings for Fortis and Capital Power?
Do you have growth projection estimates for these companies?
Thank you very much

Q: Time to cut my losses on West Jet? I have a small position (fortunately).
Q: I don't expect that you have a crystal ball, but I am sure your guess would be much better than mine.
What is your expectation for these two companies? Do you see on the horizon a takeover or merger for them and by whom?
Thanks.

Q: I own both of these in my portfolio and would appreciatse your comments on both and if you feel there are better options for a retired person looking mainly for income with some growth.

Q: I hold three stocks in the oil and gas industry with huge losses. They are CPG -79%, FRU -31%, and TDG -80%. This there any hope for these dogs or should they be sold?
Q: Hello Peter & Ryan,
I appreciate your opinion about: NAKD, BURBY (Burberry group), LVMUY (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey), CFRUY (Compagnie Financiere Richemont S.A. ADR)
"Naked Brand Group Limited, a global leader in intimate apparel and swimwear (the “Company” or “Naked”), has announced an agreement between its wholly-owned subsidiary Bendon Limited (“Bendon”) and CVS Health (CVS), a leading pharmacy innovation company helping people on their path to better health. Under the terms of the agreement, Bendon’s master licensed Heidi Klum Intimates Solutions line has been featured in over 4,000 CVS locations across the United States."
Thank You!

ARC Resources Ltd. (ARX $27.35)
-
Tourmaline Oil Corp. (TOU $57.61)
-
Vermilion Energy Inc. (VET $10.98)
Q: Which of these two companies would you suggest if Im looking for a two year hold without too much volatility. I like the bigger dividend of ARX but TOU seems more stable? Or is there a better choice?

Open Text Corporation (OTEX $39.15)
-
iShares S&P/TSX Capped Information Technology Index ETF (XIT $73.31)
Q: God morning,
Is it better to own ETF XIT or own only one tech stock OTEX?
Thanks

Q: Hello 5i Team
The passive index fund industry is dominated by BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street. Seen together, these three giant, passive asset managers already constitute the largest shareholder in at least 40 percent of all U.S. listed companies and 88 percent of the S&P 500 firms. What are your thoughts in terms of the big three controlling the corporations and what happens when there is a market correction or meltdown. Would there be any buyers left and also individual stock investors could get into deep trouble.
