Q: What would be your recommendation for one or two etfs that track precious metals, either on the US or Cdn side?

Q: Hello 5iResearch,

I have a couple requests:

1. Would you please send me your recommendations for two or three ETFs I could use for hedging against a recession/market correction but still get an annualized distribution yield of about 3%?

2. Could you please also let me know what your recommendation would be for a gold ETF?

Could you please suggest a Gold bullion ETF in CAD - Not a "paper ETF" but an actual physical like PHYS? Thank you.

Answer:

We would be fine with PHYS here. SGOL is another option, holding physical gold bars in Swiss vaults

Q: Considering purchasing CGL as a disaster hedge, portfolio diversifier and future inflation hedge. I like the way it increased in value back in 2009 to 2011; more so than XGD. I also like the idea of avoiding the specific company risk of purchasing a gold company. If you like my thesis, what percentage of my equity portfolio would you suggest to provide the protection I am seeking? Thank you.
