Q: I hold XBC in my TFSA with a healthy 100% return. I am considering selling 1/3 of my XBC holdings and adding to ATA and GUD, which are under weight. Your thoughts.

Q: I like to add an energy company that can give a combination of growth potential and decent yield (around 4%). Between SU and GEI which one will be your pick? I know SU at market cap of $62 billion is considerably larger than GEI's $4 billion. Thanks.

Q: Hello,

I would appreciate your analysis of Brookfield Property Partners earnings announcement. I see that they have raised the quarterly dividend but by only a very MARGINAL amount. Dividend increases in each of the preceding 5 years averaged over 5% but this increase is less than 1%. Might that imply that management may be worried about the sustainability of the current dividend?

Q: Many thanks to Chris for his very helpful comments on the capital gains/loss issues I was struggling with. He is quite right that these were old losses. Was so focused on not breaking the rules that I completely missed the fact that it was only selling at a loss (not a gain) and re-buying before 30 days that was a concern. Great to have extra back up ! Although on any future government regs change issue, I always assume the worst. Still remember clearly the nasty Halloween surprise about the Unit Trust policy change (which gvt previously assured us wouldn't happen) and the subsequent overnight drop of 30% in those kind of holdings !!

Q: Dear 5i,
Are ROC and Phantom Distributions included when ETFs and stocks compute Annual Total Return? It seems to me that ROC should not be included in the calculation. It makes sense that ROC decreases ACB and Phantom Distributions increase ACB. Can you help explain what is and is not included in a Total Return Calculation.

Do you have the most recent analysts estimate of the target price? Roughly a month ago Royal Bank had a target price of $45.00. Now, they don't have any target information on AW anymore.
