Q: Thanks for your prompt answer on FSZ this morning, agree overall results and the transaction are a net positive. As a followup, I see that Mr. Desjardins (DJM Capital) has sold close to $30 mill. of FSZ shares as part of the transaction. Any concerns regarding this divestiture?
Also, "A favourable decision was obtained from the Autorité des marchés financiers to exempt Fiera from the issuer bid requirements of securities laws applicable to the Share Repurchase" please explain.
Thanks again,
Rob

Q: I am a bit light on Financial companies; 12% of my portfolio I want to go up to 15%. I own TD, BNS, SLF and GSY in about equal amounts. Do you have any suggestions to add another financial company. I am retired and do not want to add a high risk company.

Q: Hi 5i and team
Thanks for your sound advice during this last market correction. It made me finally understand why it's important to concentrate on limiting losses rather than going strictly for gains. I need to eliminate two Financials from portfolio. It is in a RRSP account. I do prefer a combination of income and Growth. Thanks for your help.

Q: According to the Asset Allocator, I am considerably underweight in the financial sector. I hold the above stocks, and they are about 3% of my portfolio [balanced income]. I hold a lot of cash at the moment. What would you recommend that I add, to increase my weighting in this sector to the recommended 17%. I am 72 with pensions, and do not need the income.
Kind regards, and thank you for all you do.

Q: Have held onto BNS for a couple of years. Down 10% and considering a switch to FSZ. Would appreciate your view on which company likely will generate the best total returns (dividend + growth) over the next three years. Thank you.

Q: Hi there 5i. With a pending takeover; I am wondering if there is an opportune time to sell my shares in GS or if I should hang onto them in the event there is an increase in value or a trade off in shares of the buyer, or are there other options? I am currently down approx. 13%. Thank You so much for your excellent service. Glynn

Q: Hello,
I have held FSZ for a few years now (small position of less around 1%). The share price has not moved basically since mid-2013. I am very happy with the dividend (another increase this quarter) and it appears to me they are a well managed company.

I know they operate in a sector that is not favorable but are there any catalysts on the horizon that might be a positive for the share price in the mid to long term or should one simply hold this for the income?

Would National Bank eventually buy this out (I know this is speculation but had to ask)?

And, what would be a good target % to hold in a well diversified income portfolio inside an RRSP for the average investor? I have full positions in BNS and SLF.

Thanks,
Dan

Q: Hello all.
Looks like GS has worked out ok for recent purchasers.
Given this:
"The Gluskin Sheff board of directors, after consultation with its financial and legal advisers, has unanimously approved the transaction and determined that it is in the best interests of Gluskin Sheff, and unanimously recommends that Gluskin Sheff shareholders vote in favour of the transaction." I would expect low likelihood of a competing offer- your thoughts?

Also wondering if you can recommend another pick, (in any industry), with similar qualities, especially a significant and solid dividend.
Thanks

Q: In July 2018 you had a b+ rating, hoping for growth in AUM, and possible acquisitions, can you provide current scorecard on these points please? Opinion on sale of Mutual Fund business to Canoe and how that will effect previous points? Your report was accurate forecasting slow and steady and enjoy the dividend, suppose I'm bored and looking for a reason to not bail and look for more capital appreciation when markets are flying.
