Q: unusual behaviour by Chartwell today falling back by 5% after a very pleasant run. I can't find any news so would this just be profit-taking?

Q: I owned some Element Financial in my TFSA and it just went through the company split, one of the companies to emerge is ECN which I will get a few shares of automatically. I was thinking of purchasing more of them and was wondering what your thought were on this new entity.

Q: This is a general question on IPOs: my son works for a small laser company in the USA - medical lasers used for all kinds of cosmetic procedures that people pay for directly - mostly women. He is in sales and is doing very well. They are going to market with an IPO in the near future. Any general comments on buying IPOs?

Q: Good morning Peter and Team,

Sorry for another question about the changes to the mortgage business! The new rules will undoubtedly disqualify a number of people from obtaining mortgages, thus relegating them to renting instead of buying real estate. I'm wondering if this is a buying opportunity for "apartment" type REITs like CAR.UN and IIP.UN. If so, what REITs do you find most compelling, and is there any preference as to where should they be held? (RRSP, RRIF, TFSA, Non-registered investment account.)

Q: I have losses and 2% positions in each of these companies in a well diversified portfolio. Do you suggest moving on and selling any of these, especially after the gov't mortgage rule changes. What replacements might you suggest. I already own TD, BNS and SLF at 3% each.
