Q: Recently I opened a Corporate Investing Account for our small business to put money not currently required vs sitting in a bank account ; investing period would be at least 5 years. Funds are in USD so the plan is to invest in US stocks and currently plan to invest $15,000 to $50,000 USD. I am considering MSFT , NVDA and V. Your comments / recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

Q: I should no better than to get 'hungry' for a stock i've been eyeballing for a while the week it announces its earnings but we probably wouldn't have a market if we ALL acted rationally.

I am tempted to buy before they announce. Your thoughts on my irrational needs ( and anything else to inform the cause).

Much thanks,
Mark

Q: Hi All at 5i! Hope you are enjoying the summer! I was wondering if you could recommend a book ( or other source) on investing for a total novice. A friend of my son has started on his working career and has accumulated some money. He has no knowledge of investing and would like to start learning about the topic. I recommended 5i to him, and he is considering joining after he has a rudimentary understanding of the world of investing. Hope you can help . Cheers, Tamara

Q: Could you please give me an update on Surge Energy, in particular: insider trading over the past few months, overall insider ownership, level of debt - is it reasonable, sustainability of dividend, cash flow, expected revenue and earnings growth, P/E, ability to weather a downturn in oil prices. Q: Could you perhaps give me any information regarding this US fund. Its a very small portion of my portfolio. It has made great returns for me since it goobled up a previous fund I was in, in 2017. The dividend is 16.81%. The stock drops of course every time it pays out. Two things I notice as potential trouble. In 2012 it did a 1/4 split? And how problematic are rising interest rate environment for this fund. Thanks......many thanks your information has made me very happy.

Q: Johnson and Johnson is a highly rated company. However they are facing a large number of law suits, mostly related to talcum powder. Although the scientific basis for these lawsuits is extremely weak, I am concerned about the legal system in the USA. Would you recommend I keep holding my JNJ shares or sell and invest in something else in the USA? Diversification is not an issue.

Q: hello 5i:
I'm considering selling shares of SJ, and buying one of the above. Can you advise which you see as a favourite today, overall, considering safety, capital growth, dividend growth. Long-term hold, approx 5 years.

Q: Hi,

I was searching the website for a question on ANDV and every time I try a search, it doesn't come up it just shows Sandvine.

I was looking for the details of the offer that MPC made for ANDV. I asked the question after the takeover was announced.

Q: I have some cash to invest and would like your advice as to whether to add to any of the above companies which I currently hold (at a loss in each) or sell them and put the funds into a new investment which generates some income. Thank you for your great service.

Q: I own the shares and the bond units. I do not subscribe to the theory to hold an equity even though its falling, because you 'get paid to wait'. In certain instances you can wait forever to get back the capital losses.

So with that parameter out of the way, what is your future investment outlook for H given what has occurred today and the meddling that will occur in the future (your guess is better than mine)?

There are many income stocks to chose from, look at it from the capital preservation/downside approach.

Thanks

Sheldon
