Q: Hello. I am looking for an investment opportunity that aligns itself with sustainability and the environment. I am a conservative investor with a time horizon of 10-15 years. What are your thoughts on NEI Environmental Leaders Fund? Would you have other suggestions instead? ETF’s? Stock? Other mutual fund? Many thanks for your insight and guidance.

Q: Hello -
I have a concern about the grossing up of Canadian dividends (non registered account) affecting my OAS when I reach 71. By that time I will be forced to RRIF, I'll have my CPP, and I also have a company pension that I will be drawing from prior to that.
I know you are not tax experts, but wondered if you see anything wrong with my thinking here. I am leaning more towards lower paying dividend paying blue chips in that non-registered account. I already have ATD.B and CNR. Are there any other quality Canadian companies that you are comfortable with in this "lower dividend" category?
Alternatively I was thinking I could "swap" some investments. i.e. have more Canadian dividend payers in my RRSP and have my emerging market ETF's - ZID and VEE - in my non-registered account. Do you think this is worth considering?
At least those dividends would not be grossed up. Although the trade-off is that you lose the dividend credit.......sigh.

Q: Small caps have always been a focus of mine and the 5i team has helped me build out a nice group over the last year to complement my core holdings. Can you let me know if your thesis has changed (negatively) on any of these names? Any standouts that you would add to either due to opportunity or valuation if I had more $ available?
Thx as always for your valued advice

Q: Up until now I've only invested in canadian dividend stocks and ETFS in my non registered to take advantage of the favourable taxes on dividends. My RRSP and TFSA are balanced across all asset classes. But now that my non-registered account is growing, I'm thinking about adding the other asset classes in. Are there any kind of bond etfs that are more tax favourable for a non-registered? And what about US and Intl etfs... any that are more tax favourable?
Q: I just read one person claiming that he turned 50k into 11 million trading this stock. (probably fake news). But if it goes the other way, how does this retail gambler pay back an 11 million dollar loss when he's only got 50k in the bank? And how does the winner get their money from robinhood or whomever? the amount of margin required ,would astronomical for this retail trader.Hedge funds at least, can sell other stocks which drives other asset values lower. It seems someone is going to get a beating.
Q: Gents,
Your thoughts on the GameStop situation.
With the success of the Robinhood + Reddit influencers, how does one put pure speculative momentum trading back in the bottle? It feels like an OTC chat board on steroids' that self perpetuates. Other examples like AMC, BB and FR (today).
Some CEO's may even embrace this activity.
A sidebar question, what would happen if a Company had an approved ATM financing in place and fed into the mob?
Just thinking out load...
Thanks.

Q: I seems like the CEO of Real Matters is selling shares on the public market while company buys back shares. In December CEO share buy backs for redemption or cancellation were always followed by CEO public market sale. Could this be an indication of something stinky going on?
Q: greetings.
how do we calculate the yield on LIF.Un given the 'special dividends' paid out on an adhoc basis. For example, i think we just received a special dividend today of 1.80. How much of that amount is the regular dividend and how much is the special dividend. I can't find any details about their payouts.

Q: What is the economic value added by "short selling"? Especially lately, the practice seems to be driven by nothing other than greed? Why isn't it prohibited by regulators?
Q: WOULD YOU PLEASE EXPAND ON YOUR REASONING FOR PREFERRING YAMANA OVER KINROSS?

Q: Hello Team,
Real Matters held their cc today. TD in a research note indicates that Real expects T&C to see a Tier 1 lender to be brought on board in the current quarter and for revenues to accrue in the 3rd quarter. While I note that the Company is working on getting a tier 1 lender into T&C, is that your takeaway from the call as well?

Q: Hi Team,
I have no exposure to the online gambling theme that seems to have promise for growth. Do you still believe that this is a good theme to be buying into for the long term? And if so, what's the best way to play it? I was thinking Flutter? But, its came a long way from its 52 week lows. What's the chances of it going back to that level and was the rise justified? And do you believe it's uptrend will continue long term? I know you also mentioned before it has a much better valuation than Draftkings, although DKNG still seems to move with more leverage for the time being. I wonder if Flutter will eye a US listing to get their valuation up? I never hear Flutter talked about on sites such as CNBC. ( I assume its because its a European Company and CNBC would rather talk about Draftkings)? Another possiblity I was looking at was Score Media. Please let me know your thoughts.
Also on a seperate topic...CELH has dipped some off its highs. Is it a buy today. And your quick thoughts on how big of potential you see this company having in 5-10yrs. Is it a stock that could multi-bag from here? Deduct as many points as required. Thanks!
Shane.
