Q: The use of block chain technology looked to me like a valid technique but its successes appear to have been limited. What is your opinion of the technology/technique, do you consider it has a future, have there been outstanding successes, and are there attractive investments in this space? Thank you.
Q: KXS management has blamed the pandemic for delayed sales. Do you buy managements explanation or do you think there may be a more fundamental problem with their competitive positioning in their marketplace? Do you have a high degree of trust in management?
Q: I currently have a 4% (total portfolio) position in ARKK in my TFSA. Down some 4.5%. Considering replacing it with equal positions in two other US techs, possibly PINS and NVDA. I already hold GOOG, CROWD, ADOBE, MSFT and AMZN.
1) Would you hold the course with ARKK?
2) If not, which two US techs would you replace it with today?
And on an unrelated topic, I own (and am exceedingly happy with) EGLX. Like GOOG, it is considered to be in the Communications sector. For my portfolio purposes, I would like to assign all or part of EGLX to consumer cyclical. Does this make sense?
Thanks.
Maureen
Q: I own the following tech positions. I am at retirement age and don't anticipate a larger investment except by gains.
SHOP ~ 2.5%
LSPD ~3.5 %
KXS ~ 3 %
I have done very well with all of these and have sold down a good portion of shop for excellent gains. (Thank you.)
From my view of questions would switching SHOP to CRWD give a better balance or would you recommend a different mix.?
I thank you in advance.
Q: Long term holder of CGI in RSP account, and although it’s performed decent enough, I’m looking for more growth. Which of DSG or ENGH would you recommend switching to, or would 1/2 position in both make more sense?
Thank you.
Q: Hello,
I have cash in my RRSP to buy an initial position in one of these companies. Growth focus, with a chance to double the share price in a 5-year timeline approx. Morningstar rates both as "undervalued".
On TOI, on April 1st you mentioned two funds have recently bought-in (Fidelity and Akre). TOI has now run up 20% in the last 3 weeks, ahead of the May 5 call and their first reporting as a public co. It feels like the smart money knows there is good performance coming on TOI, near-term and further out, with its parent company providing support. If you were picking just one of these...
Q: I picked up a full position in KXS at just the wrong time ($190) and am down 17%. I'm wondering about the wisdom of selling and and putting the money into SHOP or LSPD with an eye on a better rebound. I have a 5+ time frame. I know they are different industries I'm just looking within the bounds of the Technology sector.
I have a 4% position in ABST and 4% position in SYZ. Looking for both income and growth. I'm considering selling all my ABST and buying more SYZ. (Dividend is higher for the latter) Is there any reason to continue to hold ABST or would the above trade make sense?
Q: Hi, there is a lot of love for TDOC and it has grown quickly. I used to own it but sold, and am revisiting and researching the name. The main concern I have is reports that whales like Amazon and Wallmart, etc. are moving into the area of digital health. Amazon Care in particular, while currently a pilot project in Washington for Amazon employees, could expand if they see potential. Since TDOC is at a very high multiple to sales, I question the risk/reward here, can you please comment on your perspective? Would this risk also apply to WELL, which I own?
Q: Hi,
I realize pre-IPO questions are challenging to answer but here goes. I've been reading about Telesat's plans to go public on the NASDAQ later this year "looking to raise new capital for its ambitious multibillion-dollar plan to launch hundreds of low-Earth orbit satellites." They will be used to provide high speed internet. This will put it in direct competition with Elon Musk's Starlink and Jeff Bezo's Kuiper Project, reportedly at half the cost (~$5B vs. ~$10B each for the others). Do you have any very early comments on the opportunity?
Thank you, Michael
