Q: I have been following the Questions and have been a keen reader of the opaque notices and statements from Brookfield . I own units in all the subsidiaries mentioned above too. So I am trying to keep position size of each in mind when I look at the BN holding corp and allocate it to the various sectors, Months ago, before the split you had answered a question confirming that the BAM.A sectoral breakout was 39% financial, 35% RE, 16% industrial, 10% energy?? Does this breakout still apply to BN and/or BAM or is there a new breakout given the spinout of the new corporation.

Q: Sell or hold BAM after the spin off. If Sell just dump back into BN or move to another name?

Bonus question since I have lots to burm.... I assume the spin off value becomes a taxable event? BN has the same share number and book as my original BAM.A shares and the shares of new BAM.CDN granted would be a capital gain for 2022 at their book value?

Q: BAM, what is going on? down again big today? I bought down at 42$ and am now down over 10% in a few days? what have you missed? is there fraud at work somewhere? also, do you know why BNN website has a value for BAM on thurs. dec 1, 2022 of 37.32- 44.5$, which seems to include after hours trades ( in Canada, I have never seen after hours trades in Canada? do they exist, where does an investor see these?) , when the new equity did not start trading until 12/12/2022? was Brookfield trying to dump BAM? this makes no sense, and is not explained by broader market actions. do you have any guess as to whether this is a hold, sell, or buy now?

Q: well, call me 'a bit more nervous than usual...."

all brookfield companies are falling without 'real' reason

seems like more than just market noise

could it be, and fully understanding mr flatt is seen as the 'great compounder', that finally their obtuse/aggressive accounting on all entities is finally catching up with them?

you know, the tide is going out and we'll see who is swimming naked

thx

Q: When it comes to the new BAM and BN, what risk weighting out of 10 would you assign to each of them???......where 10 would be low risk and 1 would be very high risk?......Thanks for your take as this will assist me in determining my weighting of money in each of BAM and BN stock postions........Tom

Q: I am a retired dividend growth investor. I have large long term positions in BEP and BIP. which have done very for me. I have been watching the spin-off of BAM with interest and particularly like their targeted growth rate of 15-20% for distributions. I am concerned with overlap given my current large holding of BEP and BIP. However having waded through the documents it looks like BAM's holdings of BEP and BIP are modest at 25% of 48% and 27% respectively. It appears to me that buying BAM would give me exposure to Private Equity/Real Estate and Credit as well as a heavy weighting to fee related earnings - which I don't have now and that the overlap of BEP and BIP holdings is not that big a deal. Is this a fair conclusion??

Also - in your response to Chris on 12/14 you quote a dividend rate of $1.32 - can you please advise if that is $US or $CAD. I assume it is for the BAM on the TSX??

Thanks

Q: Dear 5i,
I currently hold BIPC and BEPC in my NonReg, TFSA and Pension accounts.
In your opinion, which new split entiity; BN or BAM offers the least overlap with my current two holdings? Which entity gets the fees from BIPC and BEPC? These new entities are very confusing and it would be great if you published a special article about them and how we might use them.
thanks

Q: POWER CORP. stock has been in the doldrums for the past 20 years as the second generation Desmarais family seemed content to basically live off what their father had developed. Now that the third generation is involved we have significant moves with the simplifying of the corporate structure and then the creation of Wealthsimple and also their involvement in tech joint ventures.

When younger, I felt the stock did not offer enough growth for my purposes ; now that I am retired I am looking at it as a solid dividend paying company having a new management with more of a growth oriented focus. Is this an accurate take on Power ? Thanks. Derek

Q: Apologize for another Brookfield question, but like many others on here I'm confused with what happened with BAM.A
If this was a reverse split of 1-4, shouldn't the price of the stock have gone up (before trading)?

I had 400 BAM.A and now have 100 BAM for under $40 and BN isn't showing up in my account yet. The Investorline trader says he sees 100 BN in my account, so it should show up soon.
So 400 shares turns into 200 shares and unless BN is a lot more than BAM, this split is not looking right.

I know I'm probably missing something, but so far I don't get it.

thanks for any help,

Paul

Q: Good morning,

My holding of XLF is down quite a bit and although I[m still positive on the US Financial sector in the long term, I'm thinking of selling XLF in my US Non registered account to harvest some capital losses for the 2022 tax year. I would appreciate your thoughts on the following two questions:

Q1. What are your thoughts on the US Financial sector for the next few years;

Q2. Would you kindly recommend a suitable proxy for my XLF holding that I could purchase on the US stock exchange.

Thank you and I'll await your sage advice.
