Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I own twelve oil and gas stocks in a $2.5 million portfolio as listed above. My advisor recommends selling the first seven stocks on the list and adding to the last five positions. I'm primarily interested in capital gains with dividends being a secondary consideration. Would you recommend selling any of the first seven stocks? If so, what gas and oil stocks would you choose as replacements? Thanks for your advise.

Q: Could i please have your opinion and ranking on the following gas weighted companies. Would this be a realistic time for an investment in one or two of these companies or is there still alot of downside risk. Thanks

Q: Why such huge swings in the oil stocks. Is it institutional investors buying large lots and buying and selling to make quick money? But someone is buying expecting to sell at a higher price. Every time crew goes up I think I should sell and then Ibdon't just to see it fall again. It is so confusing. There is an oil rout so why are these things moving up?

Q: Crew(CR) released information after the close that it had both sold assets and purchased additional (fill in) Montney assets. It has been argued that it's balance sheet had become somewhat stretched. Do you like these transactions? The stock has been very strong of late, do you think it can continue to rise from here?

Q: Hi Peter and Team,
I was wondering your opinion on adding some CREW (CR) at current levels. I figure it will be under some "tax loss selling" and was wondering when the majority of that will be over - i understand that december 23 or 24 is the last official day for the tax year, but is it safe to say that most of the "selling" will occur before then - perhaps end of nov or early dec?
My thinking is that this stock may lift in the new year and possibly be a takeout candidate...
many thanks.

Q: Hi Team,

I have a nice capital gain embedded for year end and am willing to roll the dice a little at this point.

I would appreciate your insight as to what junior oil and gas names you would recommend as a speculative buy that may be subject to a takeover in the next 6-12 months. I'm thinking of CR, RRX, or RTK. Thoughts?
Many thanks, as always.
