Q: Hi team,
I own Fortis and Emera for dividends and safety. Given the higher dividend and recent better performance of Capital Power, would it be reasonable to replace either FTS or EMA with CPX?

Q: Dear 5i crystal ball.
Re recent comments on a market rallying just before and/or after announcement of a recession. The merits of which said recession seem to be debatable, but the market rally is in plain sight. Much of what I'm reading suggests that with increasing rates, the economy will slow, as intended, inflation will succumb, and a real recession will occur sometime in the next 12 months, accompanied by a market downturn. Accepting that the market is forward looking is the market currently looking beyond the real recession yet to occur, and therefore the current rally is sustainable, or are we to expect another market dowturn in the near future?

Q: Hi Team,
I know there is no earnings estimates for TOI, but how does the earnings release look to you? The release says total revenue is up 24% compared to last years quarter. That part sound pretty good to me especially in the environment we are in. I am not sure how to guage the net income though. They state it is down compared to last years quarter due to "preferred securites income" in 2021. Is this a non event or will it be viewed as negative? Thanks for your analysis.

Q: Can I please get your opinion on this ETF for dividends and some growth. It seems to me this fund used to be nicely balanced with about 40 stocks all equally weighted and balanced sector wise. 20 US and 20 CAD holdings. Also the AUM looks to have decreased. The holdings and breakdown look much less appealing now, being overweight financials and energy not that different than any other Canadian div etf. thoughts and replacement options.

Q: I’d like to ask you to speculate on if and when Telus International might initiate a dividend? I’m assuming it is likely to happen one day? I know that you like to see that first dividend established. In your experience would it be unusual before a certain number of years have passed after being listed? Is there some consistent level of profitability required over a given time usually, or any indicators/predictors to go by? Thanks for your insight.

Q: Hello Peter,

I would like your opinion on Shopify not just on its own merit but in relation to the ecommerce business of Amazon. While the long term adoption is in place the rate of growth has slowed according to Shopify. However, Amazon being a much larger and mature business had an impressive revenue growth for the quarter?
How will the market value Shopify as compared to amazon? And when taking into account Shopify's vertical integration and Amazon's diverse business, which one would give a better return to the investor for the next 12-18 months?
